@Creighton, Wed., Jan. 25, 9p, CBSSN

Was half hearted about even turning the game on last night, but did so. Saw enough, didn't even finish the first half.

Absolutely, zero offensive game plan. Nothing. Seen it all before, turned the game off.

First thing, Fr Shanley has to make peace with Mike Repole. By any means necessary. Father wasn't here for the Lavin firing/Mullin hiring. Had nothing to do with it. "Mike, what do we have to do to bring you back?"

CMA has lost this team. He has no answers on offense or defense. There is no strategy apparent, other than trying to run the opposition up and down the court. Three point defense is non-existent. Watching games make me angry that I spent 2+ hours that I can never get back.
Your post made me chuckle on this otherwise morose day. I imagine being an opposition coach addressing their team pregame. “Ok guys, you’re not going to be challenged tonight on the court. You will however have a great cardio session. Enjoy.”

“Well obviously coming on the road especially playing at a place like Creighton, it's going to be tough. I thought there were a couple loose balls that really turned out in their favor.

CMA is delusional!!! Look at that statement! There were a couple of loose balls that really turned out in their favor?????? They gave up
104 points and lost by 28!!! A couple of loose balls???? Get rid of this guy!!!
It practically comes off as a defeated response.

I have been saying that CMA seems like a nice guy and that we might has well keep him because nobody good would take the job and why pay yet another coach to not coach the team. BUT, after last night he has to be let go. Unless he can somehow rally this team (light a candle under st. Anthony) he should definitely be canned. It was as embarrassing a loss that I can remember. I mean I knew they'd lose as they always do in Omaha but Jiminy Crickets giving up over 100 is completely unacceptable.

I didn't have high hopes for this year but we are looking like DePaul of the East...

Does CMA ever get angry about the team’s efforts or poor play? He seems to just accept it and time to move on.
At this point the man is just giving canned political responses and answers to keep his job or not run afoul of whatever conditions there are in his contract. There is no question that he is a nice man but nice does not cut it when you are the head coach of a Big East Bball team.

Being disingenuous is not the trait of a nice guy. Where is the accountability from Mike. There is none. He never says I am in charge and the buck stops with me. It’s time for a change. Bring someone in who wants the chance to make the team competitive and build a quality program. Mike has shown he is not up to the task.

I agree at this point he needs to go but what do you expect him to say? I am incapable of the job and have honor and will quit? Look at Ewing at GT. He is holding on for dear life until they physically force him out.

Maybe he could say I see are problems and I’m trying to find a solution. You can be honest without silly platitudes that do not address the problem.
I do not think k he would ever say I do not know what to do. But if you listened to the game against Xavier and the difference on the huddle between Mike and Sean he was saying it anyway. Sean was talking strategy and Mike was saying “let’s have a street fight”
He lost me as a viable coach that game!

Each team shot 67 shots last night. Still, one time managed to outscore the other by 28 points

The obvious is poor SJ D, but also must consider Creighton ball movement and shot selection. If opponents don’t get caught up in a ratty game, great shots will be available. It drives me crazy how often Johnnies double up on guys unnecessarily resulting in wide open looks. Opponents good shots ratio to SJ poor ones also must be revealing.

100%. Our defense gave us no chance to win. Our shot selection gave us no chance to stay within 10 points.

At one point, bored and frustrated in the second half my wife counted out loud how many SJU players touched the ball on a possession that went 25 seconds before an eventual turnover It was two (Wusu and Jones).

She then counted how many players from Creighton touched the ball on the next possession which ended with a converted wide open three with ten seconds still on the shot clock. Ten.

Jones and Curbelos NIL deals must pay them more for every time they bounce the ball on the floor.
