I’m with you Larry. I did not think he’d be this bad. I bought into his “never a losing season” hyperbole. I realized he was the best choice at the time, considering who turned us down, and I thought he was a good choice. Oh well.
Considering the search process I was very happy with the hire. The idea that he couldn’t outdo what Mullin accomplished seemed unfathomable. Live and learn.

My concern is for AJ Storr. If you were Storr and spent half the season playing behind others who were not as talented and had Anderson returning as coach, would you stick around?

We better hope if a change is made in the staff at seasons end, its done done quickly so the new coach can connect with players before they fly the coup.
Bloody embarrassing game, certainly one of the displays I've ever seen by a St. John's team. As for Storrs, gotta think he's a goner, especially with the likelihood of Soriano not returning.

Some thoughts after giving up 102 points:

*Our two Borinquen players, Curbelo and Pinzon, decided not to defend anyone last night and they shot 25%.
*The young King was out of his league. Even Soriano looked out if sorts.
*Something was amiss. You could see it in the first 10 minutes.
*It's as if they had no idea how to play Creighton and how to defend them.
*The lineups are starting to become disjointed efforts by CMA to get the right combination of players willing to play TOGETHER. The players, on the other hand, seem to have their own ideas of what THEY want to do once the ball is in their hands.
*Curbelo is becoming a one man team. Jones is totally unpredictable.
*The team is slowly unraveling before CMA's eyes and he seems totally frustrated with his players.
*COHESIVENESS is not a trademark of this team.
*Ponds out of the game leads to total ME ball.

The above can only mean one thing; we will go undefeated the rest of the season.

I did not watch a lot of Curbelo and Jones the past 2 seasons. I watched the games against Depaul, but don't remember Jones making a big impression. Both have talent but have shown major flaws in their ability to play a team oriented game. Curbelo's drives going left ending with a spinning, out of control airball reminds me of the underhand shovel shot L.J. started to utilize way too much.

Point is that unless both Curbelo and Jones suddenly became me first players, CMA should have seen this coming. Either he didn't, which is a problem, or just decided to take what he could get in the transfer portal. A coach has to find the right mix of players, and instill a team first concept in every player. You just don't see selfish play at the well coached programs very often.

I have been saying that CMA seems like a nice guy and that we might has well keep him because nobody good would take the job and why pay yet another coach to not coach the team. BUT, after last night he has to be let go. Unless he can somehow rally this team (light a candle under st. Anthony) he should definitely be canned. It was as embarrassing a loss that I can remember. I mean I knew they'd lose as they always do in Omaha but Jiminy Crickets giving up over 100 is completely unacceptable.

I didn't have high hopes for this year but we are looking like DePaul of the East...
Fear not Billy Donovan is on his way

I googled Mike Anderson's contract...he was given a 6 year extension following the 20-21 season. Contract runs through the 2026-27 season. Shanley and Cragg both signed off after St Johns finished with a 10-9 BE record, 4th in conference.

Going into October 2023...23-24, 24-25, 25-26, 26-27. Four more seasons under contract AFTER this season.

I think it all depends on who the coach is next season

Which is exactly why Cragg needs to go if the school is stuck with Anderson. Clearly Mr. Cragg is not competent for the position.

Well for the first time that I can remember I went to bed after 5 minutes into the second half, I had enough last night! So I only lost an hour and 15 minutes...
Same here. I started dvr about twenty minutes after game started
I know I didn’t make 10 minute mark of the second half.

True, but unfortunatelyI can't see this administration pulling the plug on CMA before next season.
There is nothing more depressing than posts like this. Hey is Rich Kotite still alive maybe we can get him.

The only detail that matters is the buyout, and I’ve yet to see/hear what that actually is. I highly doubt it’s a fully guaranteed contract

I hope this is true...$2.5 million should be palatable for a Big East university.

1. Father Shanley...reach out to Mike Repole.
2. Let Mike say whatever he needs to say, let him vent.
3. Let him know his university needs his help.
4. Give him whatever he wants.
5. Let's Go.

around $2.5 million

The buyout at St. John's is around $2.5 million for Mike Anderson and plus the contract that Tulsa would give him was not in the budget for the university, but Norlander reported that the interest was not mutual
That appears to be a reference to what CMA would have owed the university if he left for Tulsa in the middle of his contract. That is not necessarily the same amount the university would owe CMA if they terminated his contract before it was over.

Sorry about that...however if that were the number...very workable.
