@Creighton, Tue., Dec. 31, 4p, PEACOCK

I get that your scared about this game. I really do.

But I am not. We are going to win this game because we are not the same old johnnies.
We should have won last year if not for a couple of blown calls and Jenkins not being able to grab a rebound. We have a better team than last year and they’re not as good as last year. If we lose this game it’s same old St. John’s. We end up in the same place as last year. Decent record, questionable out of conference schedule, maybe steal one against Marquette or UConn and begging for bid come Sunday Sunday.

Kansas as the number 1 team in the country was -3.5 at Creighton.

St. John’s not in the top 25 going into Creighton should be getting points. If they are favored or pick em there is something seriously wrong.

The sportsbooks do love St. John’s so I suppose it can happen especially without Isaac’s. But it shouldn’t.
It will

Hahahahaha. Theres always the "your" "you're" guy on a message board. Now we know who that is.
You'll be surprised numerous people do not know the difference between the two. Not to mention, I think it's rather lazy to not simply type or even speak "you're" into a device (most people are using their cell phones when they're on forums and social media). So, I guess I'm that "guy" as well.

I type Im instead of I'm as well. You smart spell checkers are going to be busy.

I think the guys will be ready to play. My biggest concern is the foul shooting of Luis and Zuby who have demonstrated how poorly the shoot foul shots in pressure/close game situations. Since it’s Creighton at home, I think the game will be close and as did Baylor and PC, the games could come down to hitting foul shots.

Let's just hope our guys come ready to play........something the lady Johnnies didn't do against Creighton yesterday in an embarrassing home loss.

On the offensive side of things for us it's not a bad matchup. Creighton has been famous for being a deep drop defense where Kalkbrenner just camps under the basket in PnR D while the off ball defenders stick to the shooters forcing the ballhandler to settle for a midrange jumper. Though watching Creighton a bit this year I've seen them deviate out of the drop a bit and have Kalkbrenner hedge more. I wouldn't count on McDermott living and dying with that deep drop on us as Pitino is one of the few coaches that still likes midrange shots from his players, we had success on them in the midrange last season, and we have 4 guys that can find similar or more success from there this year. That said, Creighton is still elite at taking away the rim and defending without fouling and Kalkbrenner is a multi BEDPOY for a reason. They also force no turnovers whatsoever. I think our team is built to have decent success against Creighton's defensive scheme.

On the defensive end it's going to come down to the defending the 3 ball. Creighton shoots the 8th most 3s in the entire country so they'll get shots up we just have to go a good job contesting and hope they miss enough of em. On the plus side for us, Creighton turns the ball over a ton and doesn't crash the offensive glass at all. We should be able to win the possession battle by a decent margin like we did against Providence. We also have the dogs on the defensive end to make Ashworth uncomfortable and take them out of their offense a bit.

Creighton chose not to do a post holiday warm up game like many teams (including us) did so they'll be going into this game with a 10 day break since their last game which was a home win over Villanova in which neither team could get a stop at any point in the game. Omaha has always been a house of horrors for us and is never an easy place to play for anybody. The game is probably going to come down how well Creighton shoots the 3 but if we force enough turnovers and dominate the glass enough we should be able to withstand a good shooting night from them.

this will be an interesting line... think they were +3.5 vs Kansas (that was with Pop)... obviously public would be all over Kansas - and books won.

I think Creighton opens up -1.5.... if they Open up anything more than -4.5... think thats a bad sign for us... as We would look enticing for the Public...

Looking now, they were only -4.5 vs Nova... so this might be a pick'em

Ryan Kalkbrenner is their everything, we know that. What's worse is he never gets called for fouls. Last season he didn't commit / get called for 4 fouls in any game. Until the Nebraska game this season, he went 41 straight games where he committed / got called for 3 fouls or fewer. I say committed / got called for because he gets a lot of home cooking from the refs, something to watch for in this game.

Obviously not fouling is a skill in itself, and he's a 3 time DPOY for a reason. Zuby will have a challenge on his hands and we will definitely need Vince and some Ruben if possible

Lol this line isn’t opening up anywhere near Creighton -4.5. It’ll open pickem at worst for us, but my guess is we open -1.5. Where it goes after that is anyone’s guess

Kansas was #1 in the AP but not in the analytics (#6 KenPom when they played Creighton). St. John's isn't Top 25 in the AP but are in the analytics (#16 KenPom). I know Creighton has a massive home court advantage, but they're only #52 in KenPom. The Johnnies being favored or pick em wouldn't surprise me personally, but I expect the line to be pretty close to a coin flip either way.
