Don't try to back peddle. Your whole post was you complaining about them playing together and saying the staff "failed" Posh in "a lot of ways". Those are your words, not mine. Now, it's a long post with you trying to reword everything. I don't know what else you expected when they signed Curbelo, he's going to play and play a lot of minutes and he's going to play with Posh, whether he starts them together or whether one comes of the bench (he's done both). How is that CMA failing Posh in a lot of ways? You've yet to explain that.

And I didn't cherry pick anything, I compared freshman year to this year, because 1. The stats are almost identical and 2. most people consider Posh's freshman year as his best year, as that's the year he was DPOY. Just because he scored more sophomore year doesn't mean it was a better year, it was out of necessity, because outside of Julian there wasn't any other consistent scorers until Wheeler emerged later in the year.
Literally not back pedaling hahahaha.

My post complained about the fit of the two of them not working together and the lack of staff seeming to work on it. That does not mean I am "complaining about CMA recruiting Curbelo".... own that you are putting words in my mouth lol.

"How is that failing Posh in a lot of ways? You've yet to explain that"

No, I actually did. I talked about how playing Curbelo and Posh at the same time hasn't worked well and how the staff has not made adjustments and has not tried to stagger their minutes to maybe give them their own times of the game where they are the clear cut 1. My personal opinion as a basketball fan is that that would help a lot. Maybe CMA disagrees. That's fine, but I am still allowed to hold my opinion. Doesn't mean I am just trying to be negative for the sake of being negative. i am not.

Recruiting Curbelo in the first place is not the problem. I never said it was.

Just because he scored more sophomore year doesn't mean it was a better year,

Posh averaged more points, assists, rebounds, blocks, and had a better FG% last year. As I said in my first post, he can share some of the blame for that. His shooting hasn't improved. But I also don't think the staff has put him in the best position to succeed this year. Thats just my view.

it was out of necessity, because outside of Julian there wasn't any other consistent scorers

Yep because this team has a surplus of consistent scorers lol

Also, not to sound like Johnny Rapper but I think its lame that I bring up one thing about Posh/lineup that I disagree with the way CMA and staff has handled a reply insinuates that I am just a hater trying to find different things to blame on CMA.

Shame on me for disagreeing with the way the coach has done one thing.

We can have a discussion/debate about Posh/Curbelo/ the lineups without you doing all that lol

Check my history on this site. Never been a guy to just dump on a coach for no reason. Have never given out that type of energy ever and I have been posting on here since i was 13. Never been me. So keep the generalizations to yourself

My guy, don't get in your feelings because I responded to what you said. I didn't tell you to write a post talking about how much the staff failed Posh. I didn't agree with that assessment and gave you my opinion, I don't think the staff playing him 32 MPG and trusting him to be the leader of the defense and assigned to shut down the best player on the opposing team on a nightly basis is failing him. My reason for bringing up freshman year stats (which confused boo) was that his numbers and usage are very similar to what was a really good year for him.

You're turning it into something else, saying I'm calling you a hater and saying that you can't disagree with the staff, I didn't call you any names or tell you that you weren't entitled to an opinion. I just didn't agree with the opinion is all.

Well Boo, usually in a discussion, if 2 people agree on something you don't need to post that info. If you go back and read, you would see both Jack and already said Posh wasn't a great shooter on that's on him, it was the one thing we agreed on, so why would I need to post that?

The argument is about did CMA fail Posh by playing him alongside Curbelo. My point was Posh isn't an offensive guy he's a defensive guy, and his minutes and defensive effectiveness hasn't been affected by Curbelo.
Making Plays, it’s not about Posh being a poor outside shooter. He’s been a poor outside shooter every year, but his fg percentage has gone down dramatically this year (12 percent lower this year than last and more than eight percent lower than his freshman year).

That’s a function not only of continued poor outside shooting but also finishing at the rim which he has not done well this year. In addition, last year he showed the promising development of a mid-range game which has been completely absent this year. You omitted these facts altogether in your post. You also failed to mention that he’s turning the ball over more and dishing out fewer assists.

Honestly, this back and forth is a colossal waste of time as any person with a semblance of objectivity would agree that Posh has struggled this year. It’s not up for debate.

Posh's struggles are directly linked to CMA's use of him. Good coaches figure out the right roles for their players, and a lot sooner then the midway point of the season. This seems to be a recurring pattern with this staff. Would Posh have improved over last season had Curbelo been coming off the bench since the start of the season? We'll never know, but I'm hoping that we get to see a greatly improved Posh from here on out.

Boo, if you simply want to judge a player by their FG% then yes, Posh has struggled. But that's not what I do, and that's not what the coaches do either, hence them playing Posh more minutes than anyone else. His defense for the most part this year has been great.

My point has been the same in all my posts, I'll say it one last time.... Posh is a defensive player, he is not a good shooter, he is not a guy that can create his own shot in the half court, his scoring comes from hustle plays. If you guys consider that struggling then he's always struggled, because his shooting numbers are always up and down throughout the year, that's who Posh is. His fg numbers are down right now because he had been taking more mid-range shots this year than he did in past year's, that's not his game, against UConn you notice he cut those mid-range shots down and just went for layups, hence he shot 50% from the field. By the end of the year his fg% will likely be on par to where he's always been.

When someone says this while actively creating straw man arguments.

Irony is a beautiful thing.

Have a great evening

Dude, you put a bad opinion out there, got called out on that opinion, then played the victim card and said I was calling you names.

I agree it is irony that the people with the strongest opinions are also the biggest victims.

You have a good evening as well.

Like sands through the hour glass… so are the days of our lives. This is better than any soap I watched while in college. Yea I admit it. I did watch a little way back then. Lol.

But days of our lives? Greg/Jenny and Luke/Laura were the required viewing in the TV Lounge when I was in college. Not a bad way to meet the ladies either. :ROFLMAO:

In a nutshell it is fair to say the staff failed Posh by taking so long to realize he and Curbelo didn't mesh in the starting lineup. That said many other coaches would have made the same mistake after signing such a high profile transfer. Same for Deivi. His ball stopping doesn't mesh with they system that is working right now. But it's another example of trying maybe a little too hard and a little too long to get the most out of your top potential new players. I would say who can blame them, but I can see many do.

You have to stop with these false narratives. Last year it was Wheeler, now this year it's Pinzon and Storr. We have eyes man.... Pinzon can't play from the jump, if he's in street clothes from the jump. He started the first pre-season game and CMA was bragging on his improvement in press conferences, then he got hurt and he's just now getting to 100%.

And we all seen Storr have a good looking shot from the beginning, but his defense was horrible, everybody seen that. And he's still not the best in that department, but he's improved dramatically that's why his minutes have gone up, both him and Pinzon have gotten much better defensively. There's things you can criticize CMA on that's warranted, but developing his players during the season shouldn't be one of them.
You're not very good at evaluating talent.

Fair point

Some lineup things here. Posh has had successful lineups with Curbelo, but to yours and many others point, his 3 most successful lineups are without him.

  • Adj Team Eff Margin: Team Efficiency Margin, adjusted for the quality of opponent players faced by the lineup.”
Was reading your analytics you posted a few days ago on the board and on Twitter..good stuff…

Thanks! Just to be clear this stuff that you quoted is not my own analysis. Just data I pulled from it that I found interesting.
Nonetheless, good stuff and appreciate the effort to find relevant and interesting stuff. Also the Storr video analysis you provided on Twitter was great

You are correct, I am not a division 1 college basketball coach trained to evaluate talent, nor do I pretend to be one in my spare time on a message board, like some people. I appreciate you noticing that, I liked your comment ;) . Keep up the good work kid!

Idk, I think it’s equally or maybe more important, who the other 3 guys on the court with them are. Certainly changing the starting group which wasn’t meshing well worked and was smart. Still think we will get heavy doses of the two of them together.
