I was then and remain now of the opinion that there should have been a complete and total moratorium on coaching criticism from the fan base regarding Mullin. He did as well, or better, than any coach we've had since 2001 not named Lavin. Those in our fan base that ever uttered, or will utter, even one negative word about Chris...should be ashamed of themselves and their lack of respect for our hero is abhorrent.
This isn’t a bit? Do you think that fans can’t separate the fact that he’s the best player in program history with the fact that he was a horrific and lazy coach? One has nothing to do with the other. We can praise and worship him for his impact on the basketball program and his basketball career while also acknowledging he was out of his depth as a coach. He is in a long line of players who thought they could coach who failed.

For those that live in the city , or going to be in the city , or for those that don’t want to watch at home . Big time game ! LFG !!!

Why horrific? It's impossible to win here and I've just proven he was better than 2 very recent bad hires and possibly tied with our best recent hire. He inherited the worst St John's team ever, blownout by Stac, and matched our highest possible ceiling in his 4th season. He was coaching the worst BE team not named Depaul, not Kansas. This program sucked a$$ before he got here...worse...and sucked a$$ after he left here...worse. He's Chris Mullin - not jesus. When even hall of famer Coach P doesn't dance this season will you then cut him some slack?

Carmine it’s not the results it’s the lack of effort put forth and not being there for the kids. It’s a full time job and he treated it as a part time job all the while accepting 4 million dollars a year compensation. You seem to be the only one who cannot separate Mullin the player from Mullin the coach. You think it’s ok for our players to be claiming they were starving over the summers because their head coach was 3 thousand miles away? That’s not one percent of the crap that went on while he was coach that I heard about from people with ties to the program and that love the program and were gun ho for Mullin when he was first hired. If you what to continue to deify Mullin we get it as for most of the rest of us we will live in reality.

There has been some chatter on here that Traore seems to be taken some of Zuby’s time lately. That is not accurate. Zuby subs in for Joel at the 5 exclusively. Drissa comes in for Ledlum except when we decide to go ”small” and go with two Small Forwards or three guards and a Small Forward. The only time Drissa comes in to play center is if Zuby is in foul trouble and Joel is also in foul trouble or needs a breather.

Drissa received more minutes against Xavier as Chris ran into a hard pick and went to the bench for awhile to shake it off. Drissa is playing well and neither he or Zuby are not being over exposed. As they get more and more comfortable, hopefully that we mean some more rest time for Joel and Chris.

Stay within striking distance with four minutes to go tomorrow and anything can happen.

I’m definitely not expecting a win tomorrow night but it would be nice to see the following…

1) Soriano- Let’s see how Soriano plays against the conferences #1 team. If we can feed him the rock early and often I think he’ll be locked in for the game. Would love to see him energized early!

2) Guard play-It will be interesting to see if Alleyne gets the start again tomorrow I think he will. I’d like to see us play with 3 guards at times. I think this gives us our quickest lineup.

3) Bigs- I’d like to see Zuby get some minutes 7+ if he can stay out of foul trouble. He gives tremendous effort where we lack it the most down low. Not the most refined kid but it’s crucial we can get him more comfortable with more time as the Big East season plays out.

Would like to hear others opinions!

I have no idea whatsoever about what went on behind the scenes while he was coaching. I look at results and based on that he was an above average 21st century coach for us. I view him with great reverence and feel we all should. He left the program better than when he got here and Johnny fans should be bowing to him and kissing his final four ring.

I would have taken four more years of Lavin.

Who knows..while Lav didn't have a great team lined up for '15-'16...it might have been better if he didn't think he was being pushed out...and even if '15-'16 was sub par I think he still would have produced as good or better than Mullin over a four year period.

Unfortunately I believe that the level of competition in the UConn game will let Dunlap and Wilcher see minimal minutes if any at all. The three guard rotation of Alleyne, Jenkins and Dingle will have to carry the load.

This my friends is someone who pays a lot of attention during games and not posting on game threads like us every minute :)

Everyone keep in mind Carmine is a great dude. To be fair if Mullin stole the Lindbergh baby Carmine would blame the Lindbergh baby for being born before he ever blamed Mullin :)
