Connecticut (MSG), Sat., Feb. 3, 12 NOON, FOX

According to the Athletic article, St John's under Pitino is now in the top tier of the Big East in terms of NIL. I am sure that if Pitino wanted to spend the $$$ on Storr he could have.
Top tier probably means we are below Uconn, Villanova, Georgetown, Creighton and maybe Xavier. That said, if we are in that tier, I expected higher ranked recruits on the radar that normally sign with Uconn, UNC, Rutgers, just to name a few.
At very least, I expect better recruits signed to play at MSG and NYC than at Spokane or Omaha.

WTF??? This afternoon CBS Sports had us at 4.5 dogs and now they have us at 3 point dogs! What’s going on???

That is not how it works. Excuse me for sounding like Milton Friedman but in calculatiing in conference three point field goal percentages one must include statistics from All in conference games. 40% just this Wednesday when the cream rose to the top yet again. 4 of 5 would be an outlier for Avery Patterson and Larry Bird.

I'll remember that every time someone asks me how my golf game is and I'll only talk about my 83. It screwed with my index, as outliers do, but it made for good stories if unrealistic expectations. Good times.

This cross-eyed lunatic is not what is attracting top talent to Uconn. It is the same basketball aura that attracts that talent to Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and the other regular top 20 programs. They treat their recruits like NBA superstars and pay them very generously. They also have Final Four pedigree. Something St. John's has NOT sniffed in over three decades of mediocrity because of a 1950's approach to recruiting and fundraising for the program.
Yes, Hurley has coaching pedigree, but let's face it, he stepped in shit when Uconn gave him the job.
Pitino is fighting an uphill battle at St. John's because of it's image crisis and lack of big time NIL that should have been able to keep players like David Jones and AJ Storr.
NIL dollars are a closely guarded commodity so no one knows for certain, but i can tell you that our 24-25 budget is staggering even compared to this year. From smaller individual donors taking subscriptions with Storm or Flattop to some very big donors lining up to back Rick, we will be one of the top NIL teams next year

All of the analytical sites I've seen have us as a 2 to 4 pt dog.

KenPom Uconn -4
Bart Torvik Uconn -2.1
Haslam Uconn -3.37

But, those numbers assume a full home court advantage which won't happen.
Even if it was a real home court advantage, a #1 against an unranked would dictate a bigger edge. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

At least we are due to win a loose ball contest that usually determines games. Wash those like situations v X, M’Q, Creightonnand UConn (part one) out of your systems guys!

Thank you Beast. I hope that translates into an impact transfer next season because replacing Soriano and Jenkins will be a very big challenge.
