Trust the process. Look at RP's results in year 2 at each of his stops. Anything we get this year should be considered gravy. That being said, I do think we make the tournament and better then a play in this year which would be an amazing result based on our recent history.I'm not basing it on results or potential but just that it's a bunch of parts thrown together haphazardly at the last minute that lacks the tools required to execute the coaches plan (CRP) or lack thereof (CCM).
I could see this sort of. I still think if both teams and played and were coached by Chris Mullin, the team we have now would beat the piss out of that first Mullin team.I'm not basing it on results or potential but just that it's a bunch of parts thrown together haphazardly at the last minute that lacks the tools required to execute the coaches plan (CRP) or lack thereof (CCM).

This isn't me praising our current group, i think some of you might have forgotten how much we sucked haha
Last Mullin team and not even close.....Our last Mullin / Tourney team and this current Pitino team...
Which is better is Pitino had both?
He'll play, and probably torch us.Karaban is game time decision
My view on Pitino “fixing it”. I have to believe he and staff put together a team on the fly and I assume, in some, if not most, cases, sight unseen. I think he took a major and maybe unexpected hit when Clayton went to Florida. IMO, time would have been against him anyway, but that was compounded by the decision I believe he was handed, mainly to jettison the majority of the team.
Storr, for me, 100% completely in hindsight, was a player we would have been fortunate to keep, but I was not a fan and was not the least bit concerned when he left. But he has certainly proven he can score the ball inside an offense, which is exactly what this team lacks big time.
Pitino has tried things, starting Dunlap, starting Wilcher, benching players, different combos on the court and nothing has worked. Posters lament court time for players they feel are inferior but what players have gone out and really EARNED court time? Via effort, Ledlum, Eijofor, Dunlap IMO, but outside of Ledlum’s rebounding none of the three have produced anything resembling consistent results.
I certainly hope I am wrong and will gladly eat crow, but after the Xavier game, I feel pretty strongly this team has no run in them; they just don’t seem interested in doing what needs to be done to achieve that. Not sure why, but if ever a team should have been poised to come out fired up, Wednesday was it. Big win by playing suffocating D, a week off to reinforce that approach and yet, boom, back into the abyss.
As I said, I hope to heck I am proven wrong, and espken especially, my “doom and gloom” will not affect my rooting one bit. I will be howling and cursing at the TV as always.

I also had to force myself to stop thinking about what could have been if we had just convinced like 2-3 more guys from last year to stay. Not only is it not productive, but I also don't want guys coming up to me in section 114 asking me if I have a Posh jersey on under my sweater, which happened last gameYou know I kinda did. I'm forgetting a lot recently.
And obviously this is a a more than marginally better collection of players, purely because CRP was in charge and not CCM. But the ceilings of ths new group individually, besides maybe RJ, are pretty low.
But if we ignore the reality of the situations regarding last year's team and CRP's hire and the ongoing clusterpuck of transfers and NIL and we consider the option that there was a less contentious passing of the torch, what if last year's team mostly returned, say without Curbelo and Wusu with whom there were obviously very visible or behind the scene issues to address, and obviously Mathis and Nyewie and then CRP went out and added Wilcher, Brady, Taylor and Zubi. I have no doubt this team would have at least 2 or 3 more wins and be in the top 4 in conference. I know that this is fantasy. I understand why everything went down. I just want to dream a little but it makes me more frustrated with the current state of the team so I should stop.

Pitino would get more out of that last Mullin team cause there was personnel there to make them an elite defensive team, which our current roster is not the same.....Our last Mullin / Tourney team and this current Pitino team...

Why can't Pitino and SJU stop the A1 a-hole?Only thing stopping him is going to the NBA
Predicting is always a crap shoot for sure, but I felt STRONGLY Xavier was going to be the “Pitino moment“ where it all came together, could not have been more wrong obviously. Another example of why I, luckily, refuse to bet.I agree with most of this except the Xavier game. I expected (and got) the opposite of what you thought was coming - a team on the road that came out rusty after a week of no games vs a team at home that just got trashed by Connecticut and came out like a house on fire. And the talent was not sufficiently better than X to make up for that.
They're college kids, sometimes the dynamics work in strange ways. Would not be at all surprised if they come up with a huge effort tomorrow, though i do not expect a win.
That is not how it works. Excuse me for sounding like Milton Friedman but in calculatiing in conference three point field goal percentages one must include statistics from All in conference games. 40% just this Wednesday when the cream rose to the top yet again. 4 of 5 would be an outlier for Avery Patterson and Larry Bird.32% in games not played against Providence which looks like an outlier.
