College Football Stuff

Gonna have to tell my daughter to watch out.

On Monday, she just got accepted to Chapel Hill for grad school.

Anyway - now I have reason to start following the BB & FB programs more closely.

Congrats!

heard Belichek today and he is really looking forward to coaching college football. He is glad players are getting paid now. He likes the portal and NIL. Says it gives players return home after starting somewhere else. Knows you have to raise a war chest to compete. in college game.

Playoffs a dud so far.
Committee went to much by record without weighing in schedule heavy enough. Indiana and SMU beat no one and they left out better teams. Also format giving auto bids and byes to conference winners of lesser conferences is a problem but right now they are for “inclusion”. If things don’t change look for Big Changes.

Agree about who got the byes. Also think it’s unfair the Bye teams don’t get a home game.

It could be because of significant home field advantages--the latest game had Ohio State come out and score on first three possessions. Also, blowouts don't make for exciting football.

I enjoyed the smaller bowl games with teams we didn't see much but they were always successful and now they are relegated to the back pages and everything is about the CFP.

Ohio St v Oregon quarterfinal could have been the NC game. Great rematch for the Ducks one point home win in regular season. Those two along with Georgia I think are 3 best teams although Georgia without their starting QB.

Belichick hires his son as DC. Looked at his #'s at his first year at Washington. #27 overall yards/game & #5 passing yards/game allowed. Not bad especially v. B10

Got a top linebacker to come with him. #2 LB in portal.

Think he was his D coordinator at New England

Hadn't really been following UConn other than occasionally seeing Marillac (I think) saying something about it being bad for us for them to have a winning record, but holy shit UConn football about to go 9-4 is flat-out terrible for Big East basketball.

While I don't read much into these bowl games due to opt outs and now the transfer portal, clearly Mora had his team prepared and fired up for this game. UNC looks like they are waiting for old Bill to save them.

There is no reason that UCONN couldn't play as a mediocre program in the ACC which is what most of the conference is at this point if they were allowed.

The Big 12 really makes little sense to me but no one seems to care about geographics in football. The competition is much stronger and in my opinion would just be a bottom feeder most seasonsz
