Don't worry. They won't poach Lavin.

@AdamZagoria: Manhattan coach Steve Masiello expected to meet this week with USF officials, source confirms to @SNYtv

This coaching carousel topic is fine if we're talking about the whole landscape of college hoops. But relating any coaching hirings or firings to St. John's is ridiculous. Like it or not we have a coach and he's not going anywhere this year.

Masiello going to South Florida was a bad choice. There are some places that you just can't win and South Florida seems like one of them. Sure you might make an appearance in the tournament here and there but you're not ever going to be a big time program at South Florida. That being said, he is losing a lot off this year's team and maybe this was his shot to upgrade conferences. Manhattan goes .500 next year and no one is talking about him anymore

Masiello to South Florida

smh
This is unfortunate.

But, still, it's not like there is a shortage of candidates better than Lavin for the job. No Maisello means what? We're down to 247?

Before Sampson declared, my expectation was that Lavin would be extended and given a raise. Now, I'm not so sure. This whole move just reeks of something much more dysfunctional going on behind the scenes.

So if SJU had a great year, do you think Sampson wouldn't have left?
