Coaching Carousel

The buyout probably has a clause that says if he takes another job, the buyout is off set by his new salary. Think if a baseball player with a guaranteed contract is waived and released. He goes to another team who pays the MLB minimum and his old team picks up the rest of the guaranteed contract.
In reality, I don't think money was even a factor!
Cal has been fixed for life since Memphis.
This is just the continuation of Cal's magical egotistical tour.

This is Cal knowing Kentucky fans had turned on him and him getting out of town going some where he felt wanted (there is part of your ego theory). It was starting to get ugly as the back room grumbling was out in he open so much so that the AD had to make a statement about Carl’s job security. He left before they got him.

Wasn't there supposed to be a crazy storm in Providence the day of that game (as bad as Zach saying incorrectly it was getting PPD)?

Don’t stress that account. They hide behind a handle and limit responses to things they post. Total agenda based postings from unnamed sources. Rarely right

Trilly this am:
Kentucky Search
  • Source says despite his comments in the postgame press conference, Kentucky is prepared to do whatever it takes to land Dan Hurley. Was told they’re going to offer him a contract of over 10M/year.
Between this and the BK Nets job opening up, one thing is guaranteed: he's about to get a pretty coin

I have been shocked before, but would be absolutely floored if he went anywhere.

Agree but the pressure is there forever now, wherever he coaches. I just don’t see him leaving UConn.
Not with the Nets.

We've talked about his fit with the NBA, don't disagree that it won't be as seamless as someone like Donovan or Stevens. But he'd ironically have less pressure with the Nets than UCONN or Kentucky + not have to deal with recruiting/NIL/NCAA landscape + better pay & benefits + not move family + embark on the new challenge of coaching in the NBA. This is the best time in his life to go into the NBA. If it doesn't work out, he'd still be young enough to go back to college, and basically have his choosing in the NY metro area.

I like this - Nets for 4 years... then StJ once Rick retires....nice
