Kentucky would have 0 interest in Pitino so thats not even an option for them.

I don’t think the money would be the enticement. With all the Power 5 chatter going on, he might want to get with a storied program that isn’t going to be worried about who they’ll aligned with in the future.
We literally get the worst rumored names for coaches and it’s always the same retreads. It’s basically the young mjmaherjr in his 20s going to the landmark diner at 4am with friends and girls they picked up and it’s so bright we realize we don’t even want to order the onion soup and burger with fries and mozzarella cheese on top. You just knew that’s not a winning combo. With hottties it was a local brookville diner night guaranteed

He wasn’t getting $33M because they decided not to fire him. He is getting a five year contract with incentives could be $40M.
If he gets fired, he doesn’t get it all at once, it will be spread out over a number of years and if he takes another job, it probably get lowered by the amount his new contract is for.

If the politicos in DC ever figure out how out of control college sports have become and real compensation rules are enacted, Arkansas can have a billion dollars from the Waltons and it won't help.

The buyout probably has a clause that says if he takes another job, the buyout is off set by his new salary. Think if a baseball player with a guaranteed contract is waived and released.
