Coaching Carousel

Eric Musselman's sister started all this...

Basically, Musselman wanted out of Arkansas badly and preferably wanted to go back to the west coast. The job he had his eye on was USC but he needed Enfield to take a job elsewhere.

Well Muss knew that Enfield was particularly fond of the Dallas area for whatever reason and it just so happens that Musselman's sister is married to a bigtime SMU booster. How about that for luck.

Musselman convinced his brother in law that if the SMU job he would be interested. So SMU fired Rob Lanier who wasn't really considered to be on the hot seat thinking they'd get Musselman. Musselman ended up passing on the job knowing SMU's next call would be to Enfield and that he'd likely take it.

SMU's next call was indeed to Enfield and he did end up taking that job. Muss then pretty much immediately gets the USC job.

Muss basically manipulated his own brother in law into firing a coach they otherwise wouldn't have fired had they thought Muss would pass on that job.

Then Arkansas swings on misses on their top 2 choices and somehow lands their 3rd choice, John Calipari.

What a sport.

Kentucky fans seem to think they can get Hurley. Hurley, Drew, and Oats are the names most being thrown around.

I will say that they can win a natty with Oats.

How could they have any clue tho really? This wasn’t even a thought ten hours ago and Hurley is caught up in winning his 2nd title.

But if a coach can be had, I guess they are the ones to do it.

The Kentucky opening is going to get a handful of guys big raises and NIL bumps.

I think Hurley laughs at them if they even bother to call him.
Scott Drew considers it briefly but turns it down.
Oats already has a massive buyout and I think Alabama will be sure to keep him especially after a final 4 run and losing Saban.

I think their next call is TJ Otzelberger and they make that work. I think he'd crush it there too.

I'm going to be massively wrong on all this.

I bet you we will battle with more Arkansas recruits than we did kentucky recruits. So in that sense not any easier for us.

I know in your scenario he is the 4th choice but that just seems too boring a hire for UK fans. Even if he’s proven his worth as a coach.

If those 3 said no, Sean Miller?
