Coaching Carousel

Obviously, a coaches past body of work is a very important data point when considering a hire. BUT, any hire on any job, is for the job you believe the person will do for you going forward, not the job they did for someone else. I have hired people with impeccable credentials and experience who did not work out and conversely took gambles on people who did not appear to be qualified that worked out great. Both are generally speaking exceptions for sure but both have happened. There is a human element that has to be applied to the decision. Hiring is not a formulaic exercise.

Really thought Sean Miller would end up somewhere this off season. Has he even interviewed for any of these openings?

I am hoping that Holloway is a Seton Hall lifer. It would be a major outlier in today's game. But that's where he belongs.

Also although he's a tremendous coach the grass is not always greener and I am not sure how his approach would translate to Louisville.
ive said it before, with SHU’s NIL challenges, we won’t be there long irrespective of whether he is a grad and former player…he’s young and has a family…did a good job this year but it was smoke and mirrors…

Shaheen is a great choice for Louisville. I don't understand everyone saying it's a big leap. He is a successful head coach in the Big East. He relentlessly proves he can get the most out of his teams which play hard for him every game.

I would hate to see him leave the conference, but I totally get why Louisville is interested and would wish this New Yorker well if he does go.

Extremely difficult to argue with this point. Louisville is a tough place to be anything but phenomenally successful though which is the only reason for Shaheen to hesitate.

Halloway to Louisville can also have interesting implications for STJ. Who replaces him there? Speedy?

Also, what if it doesn't work out at Louisville and he's gone in five years. Maybe there'll be a spot here by then... I'd take him in a heartbeat.
I don’t think Speedy would ever go there. He loves Hofstra gets paid very well and is smart guy and why leave for that NIL mess. Plus his favorite restaurant is Robkes he’s not driving from Jersey to go to Robkes once a week

Robke’s is the most overrated restaurant ever. I love the idea of it, but the food is consistently mediocre.
Haaa. Agree. Happy and I were actually having this convo several days ago. He’s a huge foodie. Robkes is ok but imo it’s basically ok food big portions and good prices. But damn they have an almost cult following. Doc Gooden goes there a lot too

I know the popular narrative is that the Hall has a "mess with NIL", or whatever it is, but they had to have a way to pay Richmond, Dre Davis and Dawes along this past season.

I get the feeling that unless he was being offered many many millions, barely over the Nassau-Queens border is the farthest he'd be interested in going for a job.

This is spot on. The red sauce is bland, yet tastes way too oniony at the same time. Everything else tastes like it was made hours before it hit the table. But people rave about it.

I’ve never been there but know other who have and rave about it while others are less enthusiastic.

Some people have “go to’s” and love
what they love.

Gmac to Siena according to Trilly.

I work right next door to the MVP arena (formerly Pepsi and TimesUnion center). Albany needs a Siena revival badly. This IMO is a great move by them with the need to stay relevant for teams below the Major level. He brings recognition and excitement. Can he coach? I have no problem with Siena taking that risk in the situation they and others like them are currently in.

Along with Iona it is probably the best job in the MAAC.
