Holloway has proven he can Coach . No doubt there . But , L’ville is a while lot more than just Coaching , Recruiting , etc .
It’s a School with a very active and influential Fan base . Lots of Alums , with $$$$ . Many expect their Coach to be accessible and glad handing . Even Ass kissing .
They , like IU , have long existing expectations they should be a NCAA Champion or competing for one , almost every year . As New Yorkers and despite our BB acumen as fans , we are not as ardent as fans of IU, L’ville and Kentucky . They have BB in their DNA .
L’ville fans have been spoiled by Denny Crum and Pitino success . It’s hard to achieve that stature , especially with a program that has been in bad shape since leaving the BE.
I think they will opt for a bigger name than Shaheen at this point . Sean Miller ? Or , someone still Coaching in the Tournament .
Would Shaka be offered the job ? Pays more than Marquette . Maybe . Maybe not ?
If Cooley hadn’t taken the Hoya job , he would be a very good fit for the Cards . But , bad timing .
I would think too , L’ville might like out of the ACC at some point .
