Coaching Carousel

As a St John’s fan, I would be more than happy to see Coach H get the Louisville job. Other then a few wins here and there, we have played second fiddle to the Hall for too many years now. In a year where everyone thought the Hall would be going nowhere, once again they finished ahead of the Johnnies. Coach H leaving gives us a better chance of re capturing the met area as the areas best team.
Eh, even when they finish above us no one in this area really cares about them. They make our following and interest level look like Kentucky, and that’s before Pitino. I’ve lived in NJ forever and no one cares.

I like having good coaches in the league and think Sha is a good coach. So hope he stays. Also there are others even within the conference who are safer from a resume perspective. Sha’s done a good job in his short career, but if I were Ville I would have reached out to Sean Miller.

I get Louisville is a much better job but idk just can’t picture Holloway there. Don’t see him leaving Seton Hall which he loves quite yet. But could be wrong.
Same thing was said about Cooley at Providence
In the end, it's all about the Benjamins

Uh he went to the NCAAs again this year as an at large 8 seed.

His Final Four run was also as an 8/9 seed. And FAU spent a large portion of the year in the top 25.

St Peter's is arguably the worst job in one of the top 10 rated lowest conferences in the country. FAU plays in the AAC, a conference a few years ago that had UCONN and Houston.

You can't compare a 1 bid conference to a multi bid conference team/job. Not comparable
Sure, but the point is, you can't just "take away" a run in March Madness -- especially if the coach you're arguing for also only has that one run.

I don't want to get into a separate point, but FAU being a 8 seed this year was mindboggling to many. They had one great win against Arizona. That was it. Their team was trending downwards starting in February.

St. Peter's could be one of the worst jobs in college basketball. Halloway got them in a tournament, which is a major accomplishment. He also had them in the top 3 for three of his four years. They only finished 2nd once in the last 12 years prior to that.

We also both, I think, agree SHU should've made the tournament -- and maybe even over FAU! SHU dramatically overacheived this year. They were preseason polled for 9th, and got the team all the way up to 4th. I find that a lot more impressive this year than what May did this year.

Both have similar resumes. Only one big run in the tournament, overachieving with bad, mid to low schools. Halloway, if anything, has more experience in a major conference.

Now that you no longer have to pretend to care about cheating, isn't Will Wade the obvious choice here? His Southland team was as good as Seton Hall this year.
Yea, that list of 3 names posted earlier seems pretty bad for Louisville especially considering Chris Mack is better than all those guys.

Sean Miller should've been their first call but I think they're still scared off of controversial guys

Mark was good X & O's, but was reported many times that he was not a personality that was well liked by those around him.

The fact that FAU was an 8th seed is not the point. If Iona does not get bounced out of MAAC Tourney in 2022 in opening round not only does St Peters probably not win MAAC Tourney it does not make the NCAAs. Or even the NIT.

You are missing the point. FAU is a far better job than SPU and you can nake the case is a better job than SHU.

The fact that FAU did not have to win the conference Tourney or even make the Final and still be considered as an at large is the point.

No MAAC team would ever qualify as an at large.

The St Peter's run was good coaching and a lot of luck. FAU the last 2 years was a good team capable of playing elite high major teams consistently. Big difference.

One job should be settled maybe as early as this week.

If/when Utah St gets knocked out Sprinkle amd UW should get done shortly thereafter.

It does seem like a major leap, but I can see Louisville at least being able to make a nice case for Holloway: young, dynamic, a McDonald's All American himself, took a Cinderalla team to the Elite 8, outperforming at SH with hardly any NIL, imagine what he'd do if he actually had some $$$, etc ,etc. He's got tons of fire, he almost got into a fight with one of the other coaches in the handshake line this season. He may not get the job, but I don't think it's a crazy proposition. Louisville could sell it if they wanted to.

By that logic he would be qualified for any job, why not Kentucky?

You think what you wrote matters to a fambase like UK or Louisville?

Seriously?

Again 3 years ago he was begging Fordham to hire him...
It's not three years ago. I'm surprised Louisville would hire him, and maybe they won't. But you keep talking about St. Peters. Holloway doesn't coach there; he coaches at Seton Hall. He doesn't coach at a one bid conference now. And if you think the AAC is better than the Big East I suspect you are alone here in that opinion.

And propping up the current garbage AAC with UConn and Houston is a weird argument. FAU just joined, they were never in a conference with UConn. Not for a day. But since you mention them, Seton Hall, the team Holloway coaches is currently in a conference with UConn. And beat them.

Personally, I am surprised Michigan hired May. Equally surprised Louisville is looking at Shaheen. Shocked Ohio State hired the interim guy, I'm sure he has a name. I'm not a hater, really, but would have expected much more established coaches to jump at those jobs.

Louisville is in worse shape than Kentucky. As for the L'Ville fanbase, I think a good chunk of them at this point would buy into a "young superstar", as Pitino called Holloway, someone who could be there for the long haul. Seriously.

Adding my 2cents here!

Absolutely ridiculous statement that ANYONE can make a case that FAU is a better job than SHU. Before tourney last year, they were best known for hiring the Jarviii.

In addition, absolutely irrelevant to say that he was begging Fordham to hire him 3 years ago. Who cares? He had great success at SPU - and good success at SHU in BE. He's as deserving of the Louisville job as May was!
