I didn’t realize Methodists donate that kind of money .
Should we throw Houston into that $$$$ category too?People with oil money in Dallas do!

I worked at SMU right before the death penalty. There's as much $$$ at SMU as anywhere. My friends Dad was the voice of the Mustangs football and basketball on the radio.People with oil money in Dallas do!
Any rating of almost anything but especially players, coaches in team sports is 100% subjective and just opinion. Rick is entitled to his; I disagree, at least regarding Calipari.

Again, “one of the best coaching jobs ever“ is extremely subjective and hyperbolic and I would have to revisit, it was a long time ago. Also, if I remember correctly, and if not, my bad, Rick recommended Calipari for the job so he may have been just a wee bit prejudiced in his evaluation. Also, there have been more than a few, “one hit wonders“ in CBB and his consistent underachieving at Kentucky can’t be ignored. You don't have to agree with Rick on the entire point but there is no getting around what he did at UMASS. It was one of the best coaching jobs ever, I don't see how that is debateable. That is the larger point.
Again no one disputes the what he did at UMASS. I honestly don't know what you are arguing. He took a toilet program that for more than a decade had literally done NOTHING and made them a top program in the country in the A-10 no less. Took them several times to number 1.Again, “one of the best coaching jobs ever“ is extremely subjective and hyperbolic and I would have to revisit, it was a long time ago. Full disclosure though regarding my opinion of his coaching, I absolutely cannot stand the guy, so I may be just a wee bit prejudiced myself.
With all due respect, give it up, I don’t know what you are trying to prove. I have an opinion, you disagree, get over yourself. How many in the thousand upon thousand of coaching turnarounds have you analyzed exactly to be so militant that that was “one of the best coaching jobs ever.” Maybe it was, to you, and I respect that, but don’t think you are going to force your opinion on me.Again no one disputes the what he did at UMASS. That is not something that is done everyday or anybody can do. Obviously it is subjective but I don't see how anyone can look at his 8 years at UMASS and not see how remarkable a job that was regardless of where you want to place it in history. I merely pointed out what Rick had said to emphasize it. And no Rick and John actually were not great friends for awhile he said that at a time when they were not getting along but what difference does it make. Jim Calhoun/Tark and Calipari at those schools are remarkable stories regardless if you agree exactly with the sentiment.

I mean... it's not really even an opinion... it's a fact... Cal got there in 88, they hadn't had a winning season in 10+ years- 3 seasons with 5 wins or less......, but don’t think you are going to force your opinion on me.
Look, you guys can give your opinions all you want, call them facts, which they are not, call my opinion whatever you want, I couldn‘t care less. I made a comment on his body of work, not what he did only at Umass. But give up telling me what I should think, you are wasting your time.I mean... it's not really even an opinion... it's a fact... In 8 years there Cal had 1 losing season (his first) - and a SURREAL .840 winning % of his last 5 seasons.
It be Wild not to acknowledge that as a one of the Top Coaching jobs/turn-arounds ever
One point. clearly by your “facts”, the only “great” coaching jobs are ones in which coaches win overwhelmingly.I mean... it's not really even an opinion... it's a fact... Cal got there in 88, they hadn't had a winning season in 10+ years- 3 seasons with 5 wins or less...

If he's looking to coach this year, SMU would be quite the spot. He'll have all the money in the world.

I fundamentally disagree, one of the best coaching jobs I have seen in a long time was by Shaheen Holloway this year. Would never even get a first thought by you guys in your “greatest of all time” rankings which is why I consider the premise fordham introduced to be ridiculous.
Just imagine if he didn't get the tech. You don't have to agree with Rick on the entire point but there is no getting around what he did at UMASS. It was one of the best coaching jobs ever, I don't see how that is debateable. That is the larger point.
