Coaching Alternatives

So from what I’ve gathered from the responses in this thread some of the possible candidates people mentioned to replace Mullin should he resign/be let go (in no particular order):

1. Tim Cluess
2. Jared Grasso
3. Shaka Smart
4. Nate Oates
5. Rick Pitino
6. Richard Pitino

Some of these seem like good choices and some seem pretty unlikely. Anyone else?
Doubt Cragg would even consider any of these guys outside of Oats
Maybe a bigger question at this point is who will consider us?

Lots. Power 5 team will always have suitors
what was Grasso record this year ?
I looked it up...

10-20 overall...7-11 in conf w/ Grasso this year

Bryant was 3-28 year before w/ prior coach.

Last minute call to Hoiberg, if he comes, then Matt A stays?
No thanks.
Addition by subtraction
Why Moose? The guy won two conference tourneys and went to 4 NCAA's in 5 years at Iowa St. Only missed in his first year.

Said nothing about Hoiberg. He's going to Nebraska. My comment was the second part

Add Dukie Dawkins to the list?

Yea I know Mullin beat him last year
The one thing I can say is Mullin sought out the job on his own. While Lavin was still coach as well
When you make that assertion can you provide details of who he reached out to and when. I have a pretty reasonable take on how this went down but since you are making an assertion you shouldn't be hesitant to put some detail to that.

I can say whatever I want here and provide as little or as much information as I want. I don't brag about the connections and the people I've met and known and talked to. Sorry if this comes off blunt and curt but it's been long overdue

Story goes Mullin was politicking for job while Lavs was still coach, and to that point we’d be much better off w Lavs over the last few years

Doesn't coach K want a challenge? Has to get boring winning every year for 30 years. Who wouldn't want to coach at MSG several times a year?

Do you honestly think that Mullin was the lone voice in the wilderness when the wheels were coming off the Lavin regime?

Never said that. But let's not put something like that below Chris Mullin like a certain poster feels so strongly about.
I don't know other names who inquired

I was told by someone close to staff during Lavin’s final season that Mullin was already politicking for job. Can confirm moose’s thoughts there

No knowledge of if, when or how Mullin contacted SJU but I do know the school sent out “if we change coaches” feelers well before the season ended in Lavin’s last year because I am very good friends with a coach who was having low level D1 success at the time who was contacted. Not at all an unusual thing for schools to do.

Can you find out if those feelers have gone out now?

Is that coach interested if Mullin steps down after this season :)
