Coach Anderson
Not sure if this is every game or not but I was at the Depaul game and I saw Mrs.Anderson in a red blazer. She was close to the bench standing cheering on the team loudly. I don't remember at what point in the game this was at but everyone else around her was sitting. I don't recall any previous coaches wives doing this. Just shows the level of commitment they are putting into us.
Shows what a lame fan base we have

I do not think this a lame fanbase at all. The product has been bad. Fans are smart to find other things to do. if the team is great and there is no fans, then that is a lame fanbase.

St Johns has a smart fanbase. They have better things to do then watch bad basketball.

I believe that Anderson absolutely is the right guy and it's going to take a couple of years to get things rolling consistently.

As far as Cragg goes: I still cannot get over the fact that he offered Porter Freakin' Moser the job when Anderson was available. That alone makes me nervous about him. Oh, and jacking up the season ticket prices in year 1 of a major rebuild.

But CMA, I'm all aboard.
I believe that the Moser offer was driven by Cragg's superiors. If I recall correctly, Moser even indicated that the primary reason he turned us down was that after meeting with Cragg it was obvious to him that he was not Cragg's top choice.

What superiors wanted Porter Moser over Anderson? Gempesaw? Why hire a guy from Duke to over-ride his opinion on something this major? I don't buy it.

I have wondered if crowd size matters to Coach Anderson? Bud Walton Arena draws very big crowds.

Carnesecca Arena is much, much smaller. But there is the bonus of playing some games at MSG.

Mike may not care unless ticket sales effects his salary.
Arkansas draws big crowds because we don't have any pro teams. There's little competition for fans.

Arkansas packed 274,446 fans into The Basketball Palace of Mid-America, averaging 15,247 fans per contest to rank second in the Southeastern Conference

CA is a poor facility for a BE school to call home. Fan interest in luke warm and I don't know if you can justify a major upgrade, given the level of fan interest. We'll have to put the product on the floor before a major upgrade is warranted.

Upgrade has been warranted since mid to late 80's. If you build it they will come.

When a team is down, going nowhere, that's the time to cheer. Our fan base needs to get on their feet even when the lead is almost insurmountable. Actually this year they seem to be more attuned to doing that. But when you've had 30 years of bad basketball and the coaches wife has to lead the cheers - come on .

We deserve better .we been patient for more than a decade let’s put the blame we’re it belongs coach staff facility recruiters money commitment . Put out a good team with NCAA appearances every yr and you will fill the seats no matter where we play and hence the good players will want to attain

I can't sit there when sju is bad, i just get way to pissed, thinking it's our home but msg sounds like their home. Then I start shaking because I get to pissed and start yelling.
I refuse to do that to myself anymore.

If we are a consistent top 40 program that produces a top 25 team semi-regularly, then there will be fans in the seats. Its just been a long long time since that was the case.

They can't fill the seats when tickets are free to students. Discouraging.

Ironic. I find I have much better self control at the games.

Too easy to punch the walls at home, and also too easy to post something silly on here, out of frustration.

Start buying it. Oliva wanted him.

I don't know about you guys, but if I were interfering in a coaching search, I definitely would identify the hot name from 14 months ago.

Think you’re both right...

Bama is right in that the buzz related to an upgraded arena will attract more fans (and probably will require donations which would probably result in season ticket subscribers)...but, like anything else, once you have them you have to keep them and can only do that by winning...right now, with no upgrade on the horizon, se we have to get over that hump and start winning

The fan base is not lame...just not devoted...for me, Johnnies are my team above all the local professional teams for which I am a die hard,...not so for most people other than those on this board...

We’ve proven that we can draw as evidenced by Mullin’s last year and some of Lavin’s years...but you have to give the average fan a winner or potential...
