Cluess
Mullin 2 mm
Matt 500k
Mitch 500k?
Slice 500k
Greg 350k?
I think Slice may have been closer to $600,000.

Add Borman, Rasheen Davis, another quality AC and go to work. Practical hire at this point.
Maybe, but practical not to rush at this point. This hire shouldn’t be about next year or the year after. Should try to make a smart hire, with long-term vision for once. If that takes another week or two, so be it (on the plus side, might cause some posters to explode).
You think this fan base is going to put up with another 2 disaster seasons. They should not be expected. If they lose LJ and Heron and go through another 1 win big east season ticket sales and attendance sales will plummet.

Get Cluess and some ace recruiters In here. He will surprise to upside with limited roster the next couple of years (Guy has done so at every level) while assistants pound pavement and restock talent base over next 18 months
Another 2 years? Shit I'm hoping alot of fans don't go to games, stop donating, hurt the sob's in the pocket.
I want SJU to hurt bad from this pathetic hire, if it's indeed Cluess.
In 4 yrs maybe SJU will understand, stop bs'ing the fans, and to get real when the next coaching search begins.

20 years of shit, and now we're getting cluess, why, he said elite and win championships, well you need defense for that, just look at this years championship game?
Cluess wont get us to ELITE STATUS, you're a liar Cragg if you hire Cluess.
You and Theo should both stop buying tickets and stop donating. And the net effect if that will be what?

These "sob's" were paying close to 4 million a season for coach salaries last year so other "sob's" could watch on TV and complain. Just saying
Close to 4million a season????? wtf, that's fake news.
I thought Chris was getting paid in the 2s?
Mullin 2 mm
Matt 500k
Mitch 500k?
Slice 500k
Greg 350k?
So if the school does have financial issues they paid half a mill per for Mitch to be a bench ornament? Nice.

Not expecting this to wrap up as soon as folks expect, even with the Board meeting today and Otis’ prediction of Cluess hire by Monday. We’ll see, but it has only been four days.

4 days? It feels like 4 months!

The Hurley thing was a real gut punch for many, so that's what's making it seem that way. Plus we do have antsy people here.

It sure does
I can't tell you how many times I've logged on in the past 4 days
Probably not as many as I will in the next 4 days!!

FWIW, Post article I just read said Slice was making up to $400k per year. That whole situation was a complete fiasco!

It's silly that we can't, but I believe the bulk of the blame lies elsewhere.
From a conduct standpoint, there's a difference between being critical of someone, and of being insulting, juvenile and repetitive in that criticism.

Most understand that. Some apparently do not.

If someone isn't getting PM's from mods about it, then they can probably guess which category they fall into on this subject.
Mullin has been attacked on this forum relentlessly for two years but I’ve been told by OhioFan we cannot be critical of Cragg and that it’s “not up for debate.”
I take umbrage with your statement about Mullin. It's been four years he has been a target not two. Which leads me to Cragg. He had nothing to do with the experiment. That's all on our President and Oliva. Until Cragg proves himself incapable of doing his job what is there to be critical of? He's playing with the hand dealt him by our so-called administration.

Exactly! This is a huge decision. I also think there are a *lot* of potential hires out there and Cragg isn't calling Zach Brazillier to opine on who he's leaning towards.

Truly the understatement of the year...

Gotta be someone better then Cluess, is all I'm saying.
We do not know it is Cleuss yet. Why not wait until Cragg makes his pick? Let the man do his job. Perhaps we will all be pleasantly surprised.
You're right, my mind day/night is on sju, maybe i need a break.

Be back during the week.
One last thing before I take a break, so people don't say oh I thought you were leaving if Cluess is hired, and call me a BS'er.
I could be ok with Cluess, but only if I know that there were 4-5 other candidates and they all turned down the sju job.
I mean eventually if that's the case, then you get to his name.
But him as plan B is unacceptable to me.

What’s making it so difficult is the state of limbo we are in now Players potentially leaving w no recruiting. That said I’d rather have Cragg take time and get the hire right. That includes competent assistants.

Yeah because the 2-3 mods that feel the need to interfere are renowned for their equal treatment.

Mullin can have his character questioned daily but no jokes about Hurley kicking Cragg in the nuts — an act that everyone knows didn’t literally happen is just too much. But feel free to call Mullin lazy and say that he stole money from St. John’s without a thought of trying to make us better the same day his brother is buried. That’s totally cool.

I take it back, OhioFan. Cragg has handled everything perfectly. We are so lucky he is captaining this ship.

Or maybe if Mullin didn't demand a full buyout we could've afforded Hurley. Hurley is not on Cragg. If the money isn't there then it's not there.

Buck stops with Mullin was the battle cry for any shortcoming of the team. The buck doesn’t stop with Cragg for any shortcoming of the athletic department. In Cragg we trust. I see the light.

I can recall reading a lot of you prognosticators saying “Don’t hire Willard” the last time we were looking for a coach. My recollection was that folks said he would do terribly as our coach. Turns out he put together an excellent team at SH with local players who didn’t chose SJ, and a year after 3of his seniors graduated, he had another team he took to the tournament. Not to rub anyone’s nose in their dire predictions, I’m just saying you don’t know. Can Cleuss develop talent? I’d say yes. Is the MAC the Big East? Certainly not, but you can’t expect a mid major school like Iona to attract Big East talent, I would give him a shot because of his heritage and his work effort. As much as I loved Mullin as a player, I saw a lot I didn’t like in the past 4 years. Yes I called him lazy. This is the guy who said he would be in every gym in the city. We had one local kid in 4 years. If we had given Norm Roberts the same kind of backing we have Chris, could he have done better? Im just saying we had a number of guys said they were interested in the St. John’s job. We made some very questionable choices instead. You can never know. Let’s just decide to put our egos aside and root for the team the coach and the AD.

Just stating facts, that $4+ million "buyout" makes things much tougher.

You wanted to give Mullin more than 4 years despite the results but you give Cragg barely 6 months without results being in yet. Gotcha.
