Alexander is a good player, so is Jenkins; I’m not sure the obsession comparing them as they are very, very different players.
The comparisons stem from one poster. We could easily start both players and would be better for it. Posh happily shares the ball and only shoots in the half court to keep defenders honest. He knows his weaknesses. Jenkins is exponentially better off the ball for large swaths of time. You'd move Jenkins out to defending a wing which he is much better suited for and you'd let Posh and Alleyne take the primary backcourt threats.

But that ship has sailed unfortunately, because we could really use the easy points from Posh's Tasmanian devil defense.

Great post, will add Posh on offense was at his best playing w Julian. It is clear Posh has used his strength to his advantage since “buddy ball” & loves posting up. Julian was adept at moving away from hoop on top and drawing guys out to protect against his jumper & often he hit PA on drives in lane or straight post ups v guards w/o his strength. I think he missed Julian when he left.

I must admit Posh post ups and playing off ball so much drive me a bit crazy, much preferring my PG to be pass first guy.
Great points

Miss him and those days! Great guy. Glad we have Pitino now- but Lavin really did love this place. His tenure would have been different had the NCAA not been a persistent headache with qualifying guys.

NCAA used to love to target private schools. They truly got off on it, as it made them feel like they were actually doing something. Meanwhile, flagship schools like OSU, for example, thrived off breaking rules. They have final fours and a gifted NC to show for it...

99 FINAL FOUR

Remember when OSU beat us with ineligible players to get to the final four?

2001 FB National Championship

OSU was also playing ineligible players in football. This time for the national championship against Miami. The game where the refs chucked a phantom flag in the end zone about a minute after time expired to gift OSU an NC... Remember that NCAA?

I do. I can go on and on with examples of how corrupt they are, and their partial treatment of private schools.

It's why I am thrilled that they are cooked. The organization is run by corrupt scum. Seldom did they go after the flagship schools, and frankly, much of the flagship schools success is a direct result of it - BAMA is the most recent example of this

Oddly enough if you go take a look at the comparative stats on page 5 of this thread I think what you will find is that while they are very different players, there isn't much difference between Posh and Jenkins, at least statistically.

Shooting percentage, 3 Point percentage, Free Throw percentage are all about the same, slight edge to Jenkins in each category. Jenkins takes more 3s, Posh gets to the free throw line more. Jenkins has more assists and steals, Posh has more rebounds and blocks. Throw in Posh's superior defense and IMHO it's either a wash or a slight edge to Posh - without getting into intangibles.

The main difference between them is that Jenkins has about 100 more points on the season than Posh does - but he has also taken about 100 more shots to get there.

As I posted elsewhere, that huge discrepancy got my attention so I looked at some other PGs to see how they compared. Among Jenkins, Kadary Richmond, Tyler Kolek, Tristan Newton, Posh and Ashworth you find that Jenkins has about 30 more shots on the season than Richmond (who gets similar usage), about 50 more than Kolek and Newton, 100 more than Posh and 130(!) more than Ashworth.

Jenkins, Richmond, Newton and Kolek are all the FGA leaders for their teams (Kolek is second by a few shots, call it even). Posh and Ashworth are each 4th on their teams in that category.

Where it gets really interesting is when you look at the gap in FGA between Jenkins, Richmond, Newton and Kolek and the next player on their team. Jenkins is basically 100 shots ahead of the next player on SJU. Richmond is 50 ahead; Newton and Kolek are each about 25 ahead. (As noted above Posh and Ashworth are 4th on their teams, so they don't come into the conversation here).

It seems to me that the bottom line is usage: Jenkins is by far the most-utilized PG in the league, even more than Richmond (and their whole team revolves around Richmond) and somehow much more than Kolek and Newton (and far more than Posh and Ashworth).

I suppose one could argue that Jenkins is utilized that much because he is better than the other options on the roster; that would be consistent with Richmond's usage with a weak roster and explain Kolek and Newton's lower usage despite being much better players due to better talent around them; while scheme decisions explain Butler and Creighton's use of Posh and Ashworth.

Whether one chooses to make that argument depends on what you think of the roster around Jenkins and the scheme the staff has deployed - and opinions here about both of those things diverge widely.

Anyway, I thought the numbers were interesting - at a minimum to me they clearly disprove the view that Jenkins is much better than Posh (or vide versa), he's just used very differently. Gotta appreciate each player for what they are, not who they aren't.
You literally just burned up my international data plan reading this. Now I gotta reload for another $100

As i just said earlier. WHO CARES about POSH? Almost a year already get over it. For the record
Jenkins
2831.144.434.882.73.85.40.51.52.42.414.
Posh
272731.64.0-9.342.60.9-2.832.02.3-3.078.81.62.94.54.90.02.21.92.611.1

So Jenkins is doing better, but again im tired of hearing about Posh. Give it a break!!!!!!!
Here are the stats in legible form - not sure I agree Jenkins is doing "better" but YMMV

What’s interesting is when you actually break down fga’s vs fta’s for both Posh doesn’t get to the line markedly better than Jenkins
I dunno - in percentage terms Posh takes (more or less) a third more free throws, Jenkins takes a third more shots. But yes the raw number of free throws is small compared to the raw number of shots.

Forgot the first Butler matchup was Brady's big breakout game. Feels like a lifetime ago. Does he get in this time around?
