Q1 loss or a Q2 win. Give me the latter! This may end up being a quad 1 game. Butler currently 77.

He’s got two all league guys on his team. Hard to see him having better talent next year IMOIt's still impressive. Everyone thought Matta was toast when he took the job. Turns out he's done a pretty fine job with limited talent.
I think it matters a lot actually.I know It doesn’t matter…, but, Florida lost to Georgia tonight
I don’t know if two wins this week would get us in ap top 5 but that would look so nice
Fyi after last night..Florida's NET stayed same (# 4)..Georgia moved up 4 spots to #36I think it matters a lot actually.
Could effect Florida seed line, could put Georgia into the tournament, and puts a wrench into the top 5 AP poll
My (hypothetical) point was that if chasing #1 were to reduce the odds of #'s 2&3 due to the due to fake tough guy BS like "you can rest when the season's over", that would not be smart. Think bigger.I am. Why can't we win the regular season title, the Big East Tournament and make a run in the NCAAs? Think bigger.
Butler is 21-35 in the Big East the past 3 seasons under Matta. Will probably get worse with their last 4 games being against top teams in the Big East. I'd argue he's been a major disappointment there given his pedigree. None of us would be happy with that type of record and next year will be worse with him losing his two top scorers. It's still impressive. Everyone thought Matta was toast when he took the job. Turns out he's done a pretty fine job with limited talent.
He wasn't expected to revive that program. 7-13 isn’t horrible considering the likelihood of getting swept by the top 4 teams and playing .500 vs the rest.Butler is 21-35 in the Big East the past 3 seasons under Matta. Not sure I'm following your logic. What was he brought in for then? They haven't even sniffed an NCAA bid in his 3 years and likely won't next year. Not sure how anyone could be satisfied. He wasn't expected to revive that program. 7-13 isn’t horrible considering the likelihood of getting swept by the top 4 teams and playing .500 vs the rest.
Absolutely. If he was here the “Is Matta the Guy” thread would be at about 1,000 pages by now.Not sure I'm following your logic. What was he brought in for then? They haven't even sniffed an NCAA bid in his 3 years and likely won't next year. Not sure how anyone could be satisfied.
Thad has lived in the NCAA tournament his whole career. His butler tenure this time has definitely been a disappointment. The school has also made some pretty significant NIL commitments for the basketball program. Things just haven’t panned out. This year is especially disappointing because they started off with some solid non conference wins (SMU, Northwestern, @Miss St) but things haven’t gone their way since. Not sure I'm following your logic. Whats w/ the Lappas hate? I dont mind him. He is passionate about college hoops. I like that.
Much better than gus johnson whose just dreadful.
And both physical. He may not have any aces but he's got Jack/Queen same suit. He’s got two all league guys on his team. Hard to see him having better talent next year IMO
You don't think we can get them minutes against Seton Hall?Last chance to get Prey, Lefty, and Ayo important minutes?
We're so lucky. We got big slick and a possible straight draw. And both physical. He may not have any aces but he's got Jack/Queen same suit.
They got a number of kids that can score the ball and make 3s. And Matta can still coach for sure. It's still impressive. Everyone thought Matta was toast when he took the job. Turns out he's done a pretty fine job with limited talent.
It has been a weird season for both Butler and Xavier. You look at the rosters and the coaches and you don't expect the results you see. Just oddThey got a number of kids that can score the ball and make 3s. And Matta can still coach for sure.
