Their AD should be fired for hiring a coach that doesn’t want to be there
This is what happens when someone turns an offer down because they are either not sure if they want it or they definitely don‘t want it but you wear them down or make them an offer the can’t refuse. They try and think they can go about it, but their heart isn’t in it and it shows (see Knicks, Phil Jackson as an example).

a contrarian view:

5 wins & 8 losses

@UConn - L
Nova - L
@Creighton - L
Georgetown - W
Seton Hall - W
@Xavier - L
@Butler - W
Providence - L
@Depaul - W
Creighton - L
@Georgetown - W
UConn - L
@Marquette- L
Definitely more realistic but I think they grab one you are not expecting. If they play like they did at Providence I think it happens. That said a lose at DePaul wouldn't shock me either. 7 Big East wins seems realistic as it gives CMA the winning record he so desires.

Soriano in the first half, and 3 point shooting in the 2nd half - I feel that's why we won the game. Sloppy play and a turnover fest for both teams. Very glad to get the win, but other than Butler and Georgetown, I don't think we win against other teams if we commit that many turnovers. Nywie is a liability on both ends of the floor. Feel like he's regressed.

This thread has me interested in the performance of our “true” centers over the years. Just did some quick checking. Some interesting tidbits:

Lamont Hamilton averaged basically 13ppg and 7 boards over his last three years - when he was a full-time starter. He was a very solid player on some bad Norm teams.

Werdann, who was very skilled, only averaged double figure points once in his four years (he started all four years). And he only averaged seven boards a game total. I would have thought his stats would have been more impressive - but he also played on some very good teams with lots of scoring. He was never the go-to guy on teams that had Sealy, Boo Harvey, Jayson Williams and others.

Neither of them could hold a candle to Zendon in terms of pure production.

For me we have only lost one BE game that I thought was a W when looking at the schedule to start the season. That game was Marquette. We haven’t played well @ Seton Hall, @ Providence and @ Villanova the past few years. I know both Seton Hall and Villanova are “down” this year but if you include Providence who are 26-1 in their last 27 games at home against BE teams, I didn’t think we would sweep any of those three teams.

@ UConn - L
vs. Villanova - W
@ Creighton - L
vs. Georgetown - W
vs. Seton Hall - W
@ Xavier - L
@ Butler - W
vs. Providence - W
@ DePaul - W
vs. Creighton - L
@ Georgetown - W
vs. UConn - W
@ Marquette - L

So the key part of the schedule for me is the 9 games starting vs. Georgetown and ending vs. UConn. Can the team really go 7-2 during that stretch? Probably not, but we shall see.
Wait, you were not expecting a win against a Seton Hall team with a new coach who has not had much time to recruit?

Except assists. :)

Shawnelle Scott nearly averaged a double, double his last two years:
Jr: 14 ppg, 9 rbg
Sr: 16 ppg, 9 rbg

Seton Hall this year was projected by most experts to be a tournament team at the beginning of the season. They've underachieved this year based on talent as well. They've got a good roster, but been dealing with injuries.

St. John's, Villanova, Seton Hall, and Creighton have all underachieved thus far based on pre-season projections
Providence, UConn, and Marquette have overachieved
Xavier, Butler, DePaul, and Georgetown are pretty much playing as expected

Yup, although Seton Hall about where expected. Here is Coach's Big East Preaseason Poll
