Seton Hall this year was projected by most experts to be a tournament team at the beginning of the season. They've underachieved this year based on talent as well. They've got a good roster, but been dealing with injuries.

St. John's, Villanova, Seton Hall, and Creighton have all underachieved thus far based on pre-season projections
Providence, UConn, and Marquette have overachieved
Xavier, Butler, DePaul, and Georgetown are pretty much playing as expected
Announcers Fanta and Sparnarkel expressed surprise at St. John's underachievment given the talent level they see on this team. Taking their assessment for what it is, this season continues to prove that it is a real slog to get through the BE season with a winning record.

Nice to watch a win. Read through the thread and can't get over no one mentioned this- We ran a PLAY! we actually ran, and executed a Play! it was beautiful! I had to rewind it to believe it. Ball screen for Curbelo... Off-ball screen by Posh for Soriano... free lane for Joel and perfect alley throw by Curbelo... it was majestic...

But... that was it... i didn't really notice any other "play" besides the Weave the rest of the game.... wtf...lol

Anyway... CMA is getting better at using his TOs...Curbelo (as frustrating as he is at times) gotta love him diving on the floor and getting after it on D.

Jones looks a bit lost now. Storr played with confidence. Like the idea of Storr and Pinzon in the same lineup to get some shooting on the floor.

Keep it within 2 possessions of UConn and I'll be very impressed.

Wait, you were not expecting a win against a Seton Hall team with a new coach who has not had much time to recruit?
Correct we haven’t won a lot of games on the road, so I didn’t expect to sweep them this year. I do expect us to beat them at home.

Given what l've witnessed thus far with this team, I just don't see any way we get 7 more wins in conference thus year. So many unforced turnovers, empty trips, wildass shots, bad substitutions and lineups, poor use of timeouts, etc. I figure 4 or 5 more wins at most. Unfortunately I see this team continuing to confound and disappoint.

I agree the younger guys are starting to look more comfortable. Storr and Pinzon have been getting more minutes and are making a case for larger roles going forward. They have a mix of size and shooting ability on the wing to matchup with the better teams in the league. Stanley has been playing well and I like King too.

Curbelo and Jones are talented but flawed and coming off the bench looks ideal for both. Limits TOs for Curbelo and reckless shot attempts by Jones. I like Wusu but when he gets too big a role it highlights his warts; should be a supporting piece not a primary playmaker. Hope to see more Posh/Pinzon/Storr/Stanley/Soriano on the floor together. Team showing more fight the last two games with the expanded rotation.

Would really like to see that starting 5 going forward...Soriano and Stanley in front court...Storr, Pinzon, Posh in the back court. Nywie back up the front court, Wusu, Belo, Jones, and King...in that order, off the bench

I have also noticed an up tick in their defense.

Actually Butler scored 61 points against the Johnnies and except for their game with DePaul, scored in the 50s and 40s in the rest of their Big East games . Butler is just an offensively challenged Big East team.

Xavier scored 90 vs creighton. Marquette scored 82 vs uconn. I thought we played bad D vs them but can we just chalk it up to them being offensive juggernauts?

No you can’t, other then UConn and Georgetown (which shouldn’t count😂) Xavier didn’t score nearly as much against other Bug East foes.

In terms of Marquette, they too rarely scored 96 (except) agains PC in a shootout, with other teams. Not to mention, Marquette broke the all time scoring record at Alumni Hall, not something this team should be proud of.

Oh I know. It was disgusting defense. I was speaking in jest because I also think to give us no credit for playing good defense against Butler is silly. We forced 22 TOs. Butler had games of 5 and 8 TOs and never more than 13 vs BE teams.

I never said the defense was bad but it’s hard to judge just how good it was against an offensively challenged Butler team.
