The play of Storr and Pinzon tonight is encouraging. Soriano is becoming a beast. We should start Posh, Storr, Pinzon, Stanley and Soriano on Sunday. Storr and Pinzon give us two wings who can shoot , with Posh handling the ball Soriano working the paint and Stanley in there to do the dirty work. If Mathis is healthy obviously he starts instead of Pinzon.

Don’t do this to yourself MP

I can't give up hope, it's not in my DNA 😂 😂

There's still too many opportunities left on the schedule. This team has talent, if they played like they played tonight, and limit turnovers and hit open shots, they can put together some wins. All it takes is beating the bad teams, then get hot and catch a couple of these good teams on a bad night.

@UConn - L
Nova - W
@Creighton - W
Georgetown - W
Seton Hall - W
@Xavier - L
@Butler - W
Providence - W
@Depaul - W
Creighton - W
@Georgetown - W
UConn - L
@Marq - L

I think this is what it would take to have a chance at the tournament. Even with that outcome it would be tough, they probably need 1 or 2 BE tournament wins. Catching UConn having an off night or stealing a road game against Xavier or Marq would go a long ways.

Lost in the disappointment of this season is that Joel Soriano is among the best players to play at StJohn’s during the last 20 or so years.
Off the top of my head he is the best center we have had since Werdann. Maybe Jayson Williams if you count him

Doubtful. The old school back to the basket center is almost extinct in the NBA. in today's NBA they want stretch 5's or freak athletes at the 5 spot. Joel is going to make his money overseas. This off-season will come down to does the NIL money compare to the overseas money.
I said to my buddy at the game with me that Soriano will eventually be the player of the year in the Australian League or something but I don't see him yet as an NBA player. If he comes back next year maybe he can be a second rounder

Yes Alexander is a great defensive player but as a point guard he looses the handle way too much.
What a disappointment he has become. From a potential BEPOY to a guy that eats up minutes with little offensive contributions and turns it over at the point.

He isn't a bad player. But he sure isn't what we hoped when he came here as one of our highest recruits ever

Soriano could be an All-American next year and his NBA chances would be the same as they are today, which is slim to none. You can't find one center left in the NBA that has a similar game as him, that type of center is dead in the NBA. Just look at Kofi Cockburn, He was about as dominate as you can be as a college back to the basket center and he went undrafted and is playing in Jamaica right now.

Also, not a knock on Soriano saying that, he's been amazing, the NBA just has certain attributes they look for.

Actually due to an injury in his senior year he was not that highly rated and was a three star recruit. Up to recently he was one of Anderson’s better (higher rated) recruits.

Obviously a much needed win in a sparse arena that should put to rest the need for a new on-campus arena.

The number of turnovers, many unforced, is a big problem on this team. Wusu, who got the start over David Jones, contributed 4 himself with 2 points.
Positives were Pinzon and Storr getting burn and providing the needed outside shooting threats.

Joel was excellent and was a man amongst boys.
Mathis was still in crutches and I doubt he regains a starting position if Storr and Pinzon play as they did tonight. Omar needs to cut down on fouls but he is the longest and most athletic guy we have in the front court and hopefully keeps improving.

Now on to our most hated foe Uconn. May the stars align in our favor.

For what ratings are worth I am not sure that Posh was actually close to be one of our highest recruits ever. He was a low four start recruit coming out of High School. Curbello for one was much higher rated. Shamorie Ponds was considerably higher rated as well. Justin Simon, Elijah Ingram, Omar Cook, Erick Barkley, D'Angelo Harrison, Jamal Branch and Rysheed Jordan are some of the guards that came here with much more lofty reputations based on High School ratings.

The surprise was how great Posh was right off the bat as a Freshman and he was absolutely terrific. He set a high bar for future expectations because of that. That all said, he generally plays with tremendous heart and I believe a large part of his inconsistent play since his Freshman season is based on the fact that he has been playing hurt. He never makes excuses about it, but he was limping on a bad ankle tonight. The truth is that he plays with such energy, that him playing injured often gets missed by people watching the game. If you can fill a roster with players with Posh's heart and will to win you probably will succeed more often than not.

Interesting observation from the game tonight...during a timeout, all players except Curbelo were huddled in a circle listening to Anderson...Curbelo was wandering about, not interested in what Anderson was saying at all...not a good look.
