It would be nice to knock off a couple of ranked BE teams this season to give kids a lift, not to mention staff & fans. I think we have a shot to do that at home v a very well coached Butler team. Then again, I picked Syracuse to destroy us last week. At very least we won't have to watch Roosevelt Jones, who just celebrated his 35th birthday, kill us.

second that on Roosevelt Jones. Should be an interesting matchup. Chrabascz who seems innocuous at first glance, hurt us last time is getting the most minutes on the team. They are more mature, balanced offensively and shoot very well from 2 and 3. They have some athleticism at the 3/4 which has been tough for us. Again I think it comes down to our interior play even if we shoot the lights out they will too. I'd like to see Ellison playing some lock down D on their guards and someone step up on D vs Lewis if that is possible.

Chrabascz is one of those crafty inside players, like Billy Singleton in a way, rebounds, draws fouls, gets timely buckets & passes adeptly to cutters. Martin can be a handful too. I guess Ahmed will cover him. Tough game.

Forgot 'works the refs'. Hate it but def a player you want on your team. Think lewis' lack of explosiveness might help our perimeter D.

Butler is just a bad matchup for us. Ditto Creighton. Unless and until we have truly superior talent overall, well-coached teams with established systems (especially motion offenses) and good players are likely to expose our weaknesses. Certainly a Syracuse-esque WTF is always possible (that game was fun to watch, but it was kind of "the perfect storm" and you can't count on that happening too often), but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high for this one.

You are preaching to the choir. :(
We haven't really had our hopes up for years now.
This year is particularly depressing as we all started with hope and our post-season hopes are now hopeless again.
It was accentuated a couple of weeks ago when our local scribes highlighted all the local teams vying for post season invitations and we were conspicuously absent. There was Seton Hall, Iona, Hofstra, LIU, Wagner, FDU, etc., but no St. John's.

Enjoy the little things. We are slightly favored to win the "Vincentian Bowl" & by besting DePaul we get to keep the "Once Was" plastic trophy with Ray Meyer & Joe Lapchick engraved images. :)

Maybe with our depth at the guard position, we can run the 4-corners offense.
Never mind, damn 30-second clock.

St. John's forward Amar Alibegovic (knee) will be a game-time decision tomorrow, I'm told. Has returned to practice. #sjubb

If he has returned to practice then it means Darien Williams will injure his shoulder while Amar charges into him.

Not the BE, but UCONN taking it on the chin in their AAC opener, losing to Houston 36-12 at halftime, in Hartford.

Jalen Adams out, so the injuries are piling up, but 12 points? At home? Fun to watch, if you don't like them.

Sorry, wrong thread. My fault. Mods can erase.

DePaul playing great against Nova. Will be a challenge every night .

He should always be a game time decision.
