Butler, Thur. Dec. 29, 7pm, FS1/970AM

Lets continue to improve, play our best basketball by February and March ... and surprise some people in the BE Tournament.

For all his success here, that's something we never did much under Lavin. I'd like to see us do well in the conference tournament.

I predict a win tonight....the "Good" will show tonight. Just a gut feeing....gotta go....game time soon. Go St. John's

Bump from pregame, and props to plandome. PM me with your stock tips and Lotto numbers, please

I cringed when Owens went down with what looked like a sprained ankle. He's our only true big.

But credit to DW, he played pretty well in extended minutes tonight. His defense is suspect at times. But he was efficient and hustled.

Hopefully, Mullin sees what we have seen with Williams. Let's face it he's not bad offensively in close to the basket As far as I am concerned I prefer him over Yakwe.

They actually noted Willie Glass was in the house. Usually they blow such opportunities.

Williams showed why he can be an important contributor.

You definitely called it before the game re: Williams

He was big for us in 1st half. I think they would have run away without his contribution.

Yeah but I sure got the rest of the game prognostication wrong. I figured if we won it would be bombing from 3. Was surprised at the huge progress the team made in many areas. Huge props to the staff - I've rarely been this happy to be wrong.

Otoh I'm very happy to be right about Williams. You gotta love the kid, and he does things on the floor we really need. Glad he's finally getting a chance to pitch in.

St John's trending on Twitter. Said this before, but when SJU is on top of their game, little old ladies in Peoria will know about it.

Is it me or are you as surprised that Lavin and Hill on the FSI spent the whole half time discussing the upcoming Villanova and Creighton game on Saturday.

An atypical win. Did not shoot the 3 great, but a lot of heart. D looks improved. We are lucky Ponds is only 6 1., hopefully we will have him for a while, talented and poised. Bash overall had a nice games. It looks like either Mullin underestimated Williams or his health was a problem. Nice minutes from him. The bigs are our Achilles heal, not too many rebounds between Yakwe and Owens and Owens didn't score. While watching the game thought we would get a nice moral victory, but ecstatic for the real W against the 13 the ranked team.Lets not let our guard down against DePaul. Was a little worried when Lovett didn't start.

Ponds may still grow as he is only 18. The downside is there were a dozen NBA scouts in the house. He may have opened some eyes tonight.

He may have opened some eyes tonight? 72, this freshmen scares the hell out of me, he is too good. What an outstanding talent we have, hopefully for a few more years.

Terrific win tonight. If you look at the box score you would think we lost. Of course Ponds performance was SICK!! But we out hustled Butler got some 50/50 balls down the stretch, Ellisons steal & Dunk, Owens rebound off a missed FT. Free throw shooting was excellent!! I thought the kids played for a full 40!

I will say I'm happy for the coaching staff. Great job by Mullin & staff.

The easy putbacks by Widemann (20 pts.) is what worries me the most about our defense inside. I still want to see Williams get more minutes, the kid is a fighter underneath.

This must make Gen. SS&G very happy. He's been campaigning about having the house recognize ex-Johnnies in attendance since Day 1.

I hope Lovett decides to stick it out another year. Team could be pretty good.
