Bryant, Wed., Dec. 11, 7p, CBSSN

I get that, but I try not to get too worked up about these schedule filling games. I know bad habits can arise though.
That’s the issue Paultzy , if they start to think that it doesn’t matter if they come out flat because they think they can just turn it on anytime they want, that will definitely bite them in the ass come league play. It’s an issue that we can’t get 40 minutes of effort from this team. You’re not going to win every game and there will be some bad losses when shots aren’t falling etc. But, effort, especially on defense , should be there for 40 minutes every game and it doesn’t seem like it is with this team. They just sleep walk their way through periods of games. It’s aggravating.

Shouldn't have to be yelling at one of your captains to get on the floor for loose balls and give more effort on defense
Funny I would have thought Smith would be a Rick favorite with his physicality, hustle and on ball aggression. Related,I thought Kadary’s cavalier attitude re D would put him in Rick’s dog house. In fairness, Pitino managed to make Russ Smith, a noted talented space cadet, an integral part of Louisville, so I guess he knows what he’s doing to help KR be more committed defensively.

While I believe that Richmond has the “potential “ to be the payer we had hoped for, I think that his current play could be a liability against a strong opponent in a close game. His loose handle and “weak” ( intercepted) passes could be the difference between a S and a L against the leagues top teams. I hope he figures it out but my confidence he will is fading.

I hope KR only has this cavalier attitude for the OOC/early part of the schedule, and that he turns it on once BE play begins next week. The game turned tonight when Smith came in and gave the team some energy, instead of KR's walk up the court/ passing into traffic/driving into traffic/lackadaisical D. He looks out of shape.

Richmond is consistently inconsistent. He lacks intensity and is a downright lazy player. Tonight the entire arena watched as a Bryant player dove for a loose ball while Richmond just bent down and decided "damn I'm not doing that shit".
I know Pitino sat him but frankly I don't think KR gives a crap because it is so obvious he's here strictly for the paycheck. Once Smith came in, the game and intensity changed.

Quiet, low key or introverted....doesn't matter....

It becomes easily evident when someone (not specifically KR) had drive, is disciplined and motivated.

Just can't teach that. It's innate or self desired.
