Smith reminds me more of Russ Westbrook. Stat sheet filler, fastest guy on the court, relentless on the boards, iffy but not bad shot. He is a poor man's version: Russ had a better burst, four inches taller, and a 6'8" wingspan. But neither have the 1x1 skills Iverson ever had, and both are extreme challenges for opposing teams.

Smith's suspension may have been a blessing in disguise. I really like him coming off the bench and Pitino using Kadary/Smith like having an elite off speed pitch with a 100mph fast ball. They can co-exist on the court, but you also may not need to really do that for more than 8 minutes per game. Kadary needs breathers. What better way to do that than to have the opposing team going through an entirely different tempo?

Every P5 school has these "worthless" games. Not every school has taken care of business in this part of the schedule like we have. As others have said, let's just enjoy the ride.
And I do expect all BE games this season to be a dog fight. So while poor starts may be a concern, as long as we outlast our opponents with strong finishes (unlike the CMA era) to 13 wins, we'll be good.
So happy that my early season expectation of 13 wins in the conference would bea success was so wildly exceeded.
