Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

These young guys are so much fun to watch. Reminds me of '95-'96 and the years that followed. It will be even more exciting when Sanchez gets back---although Romine has been terrific in his place. If they can develop some of the young pitchers, this group is gonna be special for quite a few years.

Let check what the kids did today (from the farm system:
Judge 2-5 with a double and HR, 2 runs scored, and a RBI batting 281
Bird is struggling 0-4 with a K batting 111
Romine 2-5 and a run score batting 324
Torreyes filling in for Didi: 4-5 a run scored and 2 RBIs batting 296
Holder struggled today, but Betances and Mitchell in 1.2inn allowed 0 hits or walks.

There's a nice mixture of seasoned vets and youngsters on the team. Lets see what Montgomery has today, it could be a very interesting season afterall.

"yankee bullpen era is 1.18. best in baseball."

Mitchell pitched 2 shutout inning.

Gotta tip your cap to Ivan Nova today.

I was watching the game at home with my wife. Going into the top of the eight, I told her "if we don't score any more runs, Chapman is going to make it really interesting in the 9th." Boy was right. Just glad that Rutledge's ball went foul.

Yanks 1-1/2 games back in 2nd place.

Hi Knight!
Been watching the Yanks since the early 1950s
Like many here loyal to the Bombers even thought lean years ( late 1960s late 1980s)

I was as dissppointed as the Mick when he kept playing and his career BA went under .300
Biggest disappointment watching the Pirates best us in the 1960 series - with my WWII (served in Burma) Dad beside me

This year I was and am still are happy with a ,500 season
All the rest will be IMO gravy/ house money
So exciting to see the young kids

Thanks to my fellow SJU/Yankees fans and your posts above
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

PS is Judge "Frank Howard" like ( played for Didgers, Senators 1958-73 height 6'7") in his body size and how far the ball travels when contact was/is made???

Hi, Gens.:
I've been a Yankee fan about as long as you. I remember traveling by myself from Queens by bus and subway to one of the Mickey Mantle days in the early '60s. I must have been 11 or 12 years old. Paid $3.50 for a box seat (obstructed view) in the lower right field stands. I don't remember what The Mick did. But what a day.
Jeter really brought the tradition forward.

Yankees now have the lowest team ERA in baseball at 2.90.
