as 10 seed against Colorado with a potential matchup against guess who if we advance? Take a look at the Mock Field

http://www.rumbleinthegarden.com/st...tournament-resume-chances-bubble-bracketology

If you follow Jeff Borzello's tweets (he was on the mock committee), SJU making the NCAA tourney and getting such a high seed was based on a scenario which was given to them where SJU had advanced to the BE tourney finals against Georgetown.

We all know reality so that's not going to happen.

Villanova beating UConn today on the road really solidifies their bubble as they now have 3 signature wins on the season. We don't.

We have tons of work still to do.

No one is saying we don't have work to do. If anything, the fact that we continue to show up on these mock fields only shows just how important our remaining games are.

In terms of Bracketology, the wins by Nova and Providence today against Uconn and ND respectively will likely reduce us to first 4 teams out, pending the rest of the season's games. We're not trending well now and others are...

Our signature wins against ND and Cinn are not looking as well as they did a few weeks ago as both teams lost this week..

The key will be winning at least 10 games in the BE plus 1 W in the tourney..

The win by the Friars who are coming on, will be a tough game for us on their Court.. We will need that win plus USF at home, and 1 other against ND, Pitt and Marquette. Winning against any of these 3 would be signature wins..

Upon further reflection, maybe winning 2 of 3 from the top 25 teams might be necessary.

Logically, we probably won't make it to the Big East Tournament finals, but it's not reality.

'Nova still has to continue to win, similarly to St. John's needing to win. We do have alot of work ahead of us, but if win, then we'll be everything will take its course. We have plenty of chances to get a few signature wins before the regular season is done.

We're not trending well because we've lost games against 3 top 15 teams on their HOME COURTS, huh? Ummmmmmmm.... Right!

Granted, I would've loved to have stolen one of those games, but I have a hunch those games aren't gonna hurt us in the grand, scheme of things. I'd also like to know who's trending well.... Since 'Nova's wins against Louisville and 'Cuse (in which, both games were played in Philly) they are 3-3. I wouldn't say that is trending well. Providence has played well of late, and have won 4 consecutive games. We'll see how they do in their next two games on the road in Syracuse and Rutgers, respectively.

Notre Dame is a top 25 team, so I'll still say that is a good win. Cincy is playing somewhat up-and-down at the moment, but they are still a pretty decent bunch. Not to mention, we beat them on the road. By the way, Notre Dame and Cincy are both 1-1, respectively, this week. Continue to pull crap out of your butt.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.... We know the Friars are coming on and it won't be an easy game on their court.... We understood the first 47 times you've said it.

If we win 10 conference games, then one of 'em will more than likely come against a ranked opponent. If Notre Dame isn't ranked when we play them, then I'm sure they'll be very, near to being ranked. It'll also be played on their home court. Unless, Notre Dame seriously implodes by that time (which, I doubt), then it'll be a quality win for us.

Regardless how we get it, 10 wins easily places us on the fence. 10 wins and one conference tournament win will more than likely get us it (2 of 3 against the top 25 may not be necessary in that case, either). Keep up the good work by complaining and building strawmen

None of this matters. Beat Usf by 15 and get the ball rolling.

I think NIT is where we are headed and this is good for the program and current players.
I might have sent this message already but being out of country the computer connection goes on and off

Coach Lavin returns this week I hear - great for him and might help get his mind off his Dad for a while

Branch returns?
Will French kid (Bougardt, spelling?) play afair share of minutes?

thanks and
all the best

its simple win and your in.... I believe we can get 3 out of 5 and stay in good shape!

To have a shot at 3 out of 5, Branch must return for Pitt to contribute meaningful productive minutes. Even with a relatively healthy Branch after USF (which I wouldn't simply pencilin a W) we will be underdogs in all 4 remaining games. Other than the UCONN gamae, we had not played well since beating Rutgers on their home court.

I'm not disppointed. I thought they had a chance to be a 9-9 team, and they have a good shot at being one.

I think someone asked for this and tomorrow's game notes break it down

NCAA Bubble Watch: BIG EAST By The Numbers
• In assessing the young Red Storm’s NCAA Tournament chances, the following is a breakdown of success by total wins for BIG EAST teams (following the BIG EAST Tournament) since the first year of the league’s automatic bid (1982-83).
• 17 overall wins — 167 of 209 teams reached the NCAA (79.9 percent)
• 18 overall wins — 161 of 189 (85.2 percent)
• 19 overall wins — 145 of 160 (90.6 percent)
• 20 overall wins — 147 of 152 (96.7percent )
• In 2011-12, nine of 11 BIG EAST teams with at least 17 wins after the BIG EAST Tournament reached the NCAA Tournament, with only Pitt and Seton Hall failing to qualify. Eight of the nine 20-win teams made it (Seton Hall missed).
• Taking a look at conference win totals, only two teams since the 2005-06 BIG EAST expansion — and eight in league history — failed to be selected for the NCAA Tournament after mounting a 10-win campaign. Pitt in 1996-97, Providence in 2008-09 and Villanova in 1993-94 were all NIT teams after going 10-8 in league play.
• Seton Hall in 2002-03 and Syracuse in 2001-02 and 2006-07 both were in the NIT after posting a 10-6 conference record.
• Villanova in 1991-92 and West Virginia in 1996-97 were NIT teams after going 11-7.

I believe we won by 15 last night... Now on to more pressing matters. Lock up a birth by winning 3 of the next 4 games.

Providence was destroyed by Cuse last night, So much for their trending.
Losses have an acumulating effect in the Big East. Example Pitt playing as good
as anyone according to Boehiem, then they get beat by Marquette then lose to
ND , now they are reeling. Johnnies need to jump all over them Sunday to continue
the funk. Providence goes to Rutgers now 2 games under .500.

I saw Kreskin on some morning show the other day. He picked the winning team and score of the super bowl without the late safety.
