Big East Awards Predictions

If Hurley gets COY over Anderson it's an absolute joke.
Hurley took a preseason top-3-in-the-league team and finished - third.
Anderson took a pre-season 9th place team and finished fourth.
It isn't even a close question.

Love this coach! He does it the right way. If I was a younger man, I'd name my next child Anderson!

Is there more than 1 most improved? Xavier saying Zach Freemantle won most improved.

edit: I see the split it. I guess both are most...

Anderson Porgyman is kind of a lot of letters.  But you could go for the multisyllabic trifecta by making it Anderson Carnesecca Porgyman if you were so inclined.

Or since he can't vote for his own player, vote for a player who has no business even being in the conversation instead of a player who should be to give his player that is in the conversation a better chance of winning.
Ah, the old John Thompson move.

Cooley has done it also.

I completely agree.  But I can see the rationale for someone voting for Hurley is that he was able to bring his UConn team to a higher-rated conference and found success there....  Such BS if CMA doesn't win it.

Like Jeter not being a unanimous selection for the HOF.

Coaches votes should be made public.

Not a bad idea Knight, omly problem is that it could cause some friction between coaches, and anger amongst players and fans towards coaches who didn't vote the way the they would have liked

True, Monte. But aren't Hall of Fame votes made public, at least for Baseball?  And yes, the one writer who did not vote for Jeter to be inducted did get some blowback.

I believe the voter has to agree to have his vote made public. They never publisized the name of the person who did not vote for Jeter.

Baseball HOF votes can be made public by the voter.  Public notice is not required.
I see no reason why BE coaches' votes should be private, except to protect the coaches from scrutiny and hide their calculus in making their selection.

A respected local betting analyst, Matt Youmans, who is part of Brent Musberger's Vegas Sports Information Network (VSIN), provided his value picks for some of the conference tournaments, in today's NY Post:
SEC - Arkansas
Big 12 - Texas Tech
Pac 12 - Oregon
Big East - Uconn

I sure hope he's wrong about the last pick. It would mean in their first year back into the Big East, Uconn wins both men and women basketball championships.   Ugh!

My bad. Then who was the sportwriter who agreed to be interviewed by Steve Somers on his show and when Somers introduced him, Somers made a comment about the guy being the only one who voted against a hall of fame candidate and then the sportswriter immediately said he would not appear on Somers' show? I think it happened a few years ago and for the life of me, I cannot remember the vote that was in question.

Ah, never mind. It was the San Diego Union-Tribune sportswriterwho was the lone voter to block the Mets’ Jacob deGrom from the top of his Cy Young ballot in 2018.
