(BET) (POST GAME) Villanova, Thur., Mar. 10, 7p, FS-1

You can be upset at a lot of things. Coach, players, refs. I’ll go down with our best player getting a great look off a great set. That goes in we win. Screw nova.

I just don’t have any answers. Tonight, going in, I expected nothing. Thought maybe an 8-10 point loss. But hoping for the best. I mean the last two nights this team gave us everything we were looking for ALL season. It is fair to wonder, what if this was the way they played all the games? Why did it take until now to play this well. Proud of the effort but where was this team all year?

We cannot seem to ever put the umbrellas away. The black cloud just continues to hover over this program.

I hate sports.

They gave great effort.

I knew Nova was going to make a run. When they got the lead back after giving up the big lead I honestly thought they were going to win.

Julian got a great look, if he makes it they probably win.

Damn.

The horrible Posh 2 fouls and that phantom lane violation is so let’s give Nova every break and kiss Wright’s ass
That blatant Slater charge with arm extended into Posh was an easy call, but blown & of course bit us in the ass.

Disappointing season, even more disappointing because we competed so hard and lost so many close games to very good teams we could have won. But bottom line, good teams win some of those games.
Hope most of these guys come back but worried some won't.

Winners find ways to win and ……….. well you know the rest.

I've said it for a month now:. The losing became too ingrained in this group for them to ever have success.  The more close games we got in, the more our confidence went down in those situations.  These are good hardworking kids who play hard, but they obviously won't be back next year, and change for the sake of change will probably be a good thing.  Don't want to start completely over, but we can't come back with this core group.

Staff mismanaged game ending, Champ misses big shot, story of season. What could Anderson have done to change the outcome? How about instead of a champ outside shot, tell one player to drive and everyone else hit the glass….. that’s how Nova won.

there’s a reason they have lost every close conference game this year…. And it’s not the players. The ending was a microcosm of the season, poor end game coaching and our best player falling short.

That was such a tough loss.  I thought when we blew the big lead we would lose by double digits but credit to our guys for not capitulating.  I hate to gripe about officiating but I saw very little go our way.  With so many fouls on Posh we were screwed,

Of course Nova has some Arcidiacono-type (Gillespie) who is a freaking thorn in our side...  Champ was unplayable at times, gave it his all tonight.

Jay Wright full of praise for us at the end - easy to be magnanimous when you escaped with a W.

Let's go full tilt at the NIT.  It sucks but it's post-season BB.

Just could never get any momentum all season. I’m so angry, my girl is pissing me off trying to spark up a conversation. Let me sulk in my annual St. John’s Basketball misery. Hope Posh and Wheeler are back, Champ going pro is a pipe dream after this season. The Indiana Game made me think we were getting a Marcus Hatten type scoring season from him but he just didn’t have it. You can’t air ball an open 3, then commit the foul that ends our season. Typical way for us to lose a game. Don’t know when it ends, I don’t know a college basketball team that runs worse than us.

Team fought hard, but lost. It's not the refs fault. You can't have everything your way.  Nova beat us with one guy with the runs and another with back spasms. Creighton beat us on our home court with several players out.   Little things matter. CMA used the last timeout to ice a guy that shoots 87%. Didn't work.  Would have been nice to set up something. Smith shot the ball with at least another dribble in him. This one was tough because Wheeler played great D at the end, and played so well the last 6 minutes. Sad part is that Nova seemed like the only team we could not handle.

We lost this game for two reasons, the mishandling of the Posh situation, if you were going to sit him then Pinzon has to be in the game to run the offense and handle the ball. The kid is savvy and has a high basketball IQ. If you weren’t going to put Pinzon in the game then leave Posh in and ride and die with him.

the second reason was Champ air balling that last shot. It was a great look and wide open shot. Big time players make that shot.

PS…. Anderson said we would shock the world and they did. It’s shocking the Johnnies were up 17, lost the lead in a 7 minute span and lost.

It's far from a lock that this team even makes the NIT. Plus Julian has nothing to gain by playing in it so he probably won't even if we did make it.
