This.  The key is now taking that next step.  They clearly overachieved this year and Coach deserves a lot of credit and got the recognition he deserved with the COY award.  But he ultimately does not want to "overachieve."  He wants to put SJU in a position where they are routinely considered among the best in the conference.  Where finishing 4th and winning 10 league games is not "overachieving" but rather the minimum for this program.  IMHO-There is no doubt that this program despite it's recent struggles can achieve that type of status.

Getting to the next level and competing for a BE championship is the challenge going forward which we can do once the right players come togetherq

That's not exactly reinventing the wheel though is it ? I mean I hope any coach wants to win especially with not losing players. I doubt we will be picked 9th or whatever next year I'd think CMA as well as everyone wants to make the NCAA and should be expected

Moore could have helped us more on offense then defense in this game. When our guards penetrated and the 7'2 kid came out and blocked their shots a quick pass for a dunk would have been there. Have to play with the cards you are dealt unfortunately.

Seton Hall players , Cale and Rhoden were the difference . They had a combined 35 points and Rhoden had like 18 rebounds .  We had no answer . They are the prototypical BE players you need 6'6 -6'8 or there about that can
beat you off the dribble . Their explosives surprised us . We have 6 foot guards that can get to the rim but , were blocked time and time again today .
i was going to write that too during that game.  And Mamu played consistently well up to his capabilities, unlike the game at CA where he got rattled and tired.

I'm gonna go the other way on Mamu and pat myself on the back like someone else here. lol because I called it first half. I dont think he scored a fg last 10 minutes. If he did it was only one. H missed a dunk for sure but the last 10 minutes we failed to execute. Mamu got tired

Now that I know you hate Duke so much I like you more but dont ever come to 114 :)

I Need a disguise

The first Garden game I ever went to was the Mcroberts/Paulus that was up something like 45-12 at halftime. Good times.

Personally I thought Mamu pretty much dissapeared in the second half. Earlington specifically did a nice job of keeping him stifled.

We knew that Hall would play this game to their tempo after the last game in Queens. The Redmen POY did not play like a POY. I won’t say this loss is on Champ but we win this game if he hits any 2 or 3 of those clunkers. Tonight we saw why Mamu won the award and Julian didn’t. Didn't shoot well but still contributed.
Julian didn’t have his A game. Terrific year for him nonetheless and will accomplish as much or more than Mamu over course of college career. That said, experience and size were the key differences today. Would have helped if we had someone else, besides Dunn (Earlington to a degree), to rely on for scoring today. Poor shooting day all around.
Losing Moore hurt as well.

All that said, we were right there and could have won this game.

We were constantly sending a second guy his way tho. It was mamu isolation, Send help, and the other guys were able to get theirs on weak side quite a bit.

Mamulation ?

Knock down our shots in 2nd half and we win. Simple as that. Great coach, great kids, great season. They can hold thier heads high and so can we.

Had work all day so missed the game. was following along on my phone.

sucks to lose but I knew it was gonna be tough to beat a team twice in a couple days.

champ went cold and if that didn't happen we probably win.

As much as it really sucks to see our BET curse continue (will we ever see a semifinal game?) this feels like the beginning of something, not the end.

Interesting tidbit: Purdue has had at least one, and sometimes 2 or 3 seven footers on their roster for 9 straight years!  We need to recruit like Painter.

Damn 7 footers.............. I want one.  Or two.

Per Zach B, Champ didn't score in the last 15:25 of regulation or in overtime.
Tough to win when the top scorer in the BE is shut out for the equivalent of half a game
Looking forward to seeing our team bounce back in the NIT
I am confident that we will get a bid
