Since they ended the game at the half with SJU up, SJU officially wins. With that they have the most wins in the BE tournament and are awarded the BE tournament championship... As far as I am concerned, maybe not officially.
Very rough look for the Big East Conference here. They needed to make a decision before the tip as to whether or not they were going to play these games. Absolutely nothing changed between last night and now other than other conferences cancelling. Completely unorganized and unfair to to the kids, teams, coaches, and those working at the Garden.
Also, cancelling a game at the half mitigates absolutely nothing and makes them look like even more of jokes. All this does is potentially save Creighton's seeding (if the NCAA goes on) because Johnnies were about to mop them up.
While a little awkward, I don't think it is a big deal. They cancelled when they made the decision that it was best to do so. Why does anyone care and why does it make them look dumb? Stop overanalyzing.

Didnt have to really do any analysis here to see that the Big East did not really make a decision. They were forced into one by being the only conference to tip today. So rather than call it off and avoid the purported risk of having athletes, fans, and the rest come together at the Garden today, they exposed everyone to the purported risk and then cancelled anyway. Very sensible.
I agree that it’s no big deal.
In the grand scheme of things, no one will remember that the big east let 20 minutes of basketball happen.
Let's hope that's the case because that will mean that no one was infected. But if this decision was made in the name of safety or caution, please explain to me how it achieved either of those things?

You are so right on all fronts. What a disgrace this Conference became overnight. Just further exposed a lot of people unnecessarily. A complete effing disgrace.
The previous three years we won the Wednesday night game and came out and layed an egg on the Thursday day game (see below). It was said the turnaround was too short, but if we learned something from the Mike Anderson regime that coming out flat seems to be a fewer and farther between occurrence. By and large he seems to get his teams to fight. For me I am disappointed in the abrupt ending of today's game, but the half that I saw today was different than anything I have seen from SJU in these spots for a number of years.
I believe there are bright times ahead.
On a separate note for those who think that the prospect of LJ leaving is a positive then you are watching something different than what I am watching
2017 Beat Georgteown and lose by 41 to Villanova
2018 Beat Georgetown and lose by 28 to Xavier
2019 Beat Depaul and lose by 32 to Marquette
2020 Beat Georgteown and beat Creighton for a half by 3

Sure, you weren't a player or coach that HAD to be there today for a 12 noon start. Did someone sneeze at halftime?
Finish the fcking game and go home but the conference allowed this game to start and they should have allowed the game to finish.
March 12, 2020; 1:00pm. The day the earth stood still.
Why not finish playing the game?
It's insane to end it like that. Tv crews are there, the coaches, and athletes. What's 45 more minutes to play the 2nd half.
This country is losing it's freaking mind.
Agreed. I was proud that the big east had some balls and decided to play. But then they crumbled to the pressure. Complete paranoia is this wussy generation.
Disappointing of course that game v. Creighton was just cancelled after a nice first half
But things bode very well for our program for the future
One has to like what we saw last night and today
In the meantime let’s wash our hands, not touch our faces, stay safe. I’ve given up going to the gym & burning some energy - which is going to “ drive me nuts “
PS if I didn’t mention this before, during World War I circa 1918 there was the worldwide influenza and millions died - more people died from this virus than in the War. My 94 year old mom
lost 4 siblings in Sicily - while her father was away in the Italian Army - then an ally of the US.
