(BET) #4 Seton Hall, Thur., Mar. 14. 2:30p, FS-1

Isn't Tennessee proof he cannot? He wouldn't be a starter there, they have deep run potential/expectations, and he is a starter here and we are struggling to get in the tourney.
Gotta be some middle ground. They are a top 10 team. I’m sure there are also more than a handful of top 30 teams whose strength isn’t upfront.

key to game versus Hall is stopping their guards from dominating the boards. Richmond/Davis/Wasu had 35 rebounds in the first game and 24 in the second. Also as a team they outrebounded us in both games something only Conn and Xavier have done.

Control the boards--control the game!
Yeah, yielding too many O rebounds and losing 50/50 ball war can be lethal v scrappy, physical teams like SH.

Gonna need some more Sources on this one...
Beast of east

He literally told he this after that dinner in the fall at the park ave place when he sat with Ledlum. I asked the board here once or twice after to confirm and no one did Credit to Beast he was wayyyyyy early on this info

What were the Honest thoughts after that loss...? Sitting at 5-1 (with 2 wins by 1 point over the Bonnies and Fordham at Home)... did you guys think you had a top team in the Nation/Final 4 squad?
There was a lot of hype going in to the season. Win over the Bonnies and Rams no matter how much were wins.

I think we really wanted to win the BE. Winning the BE was the focus. Those rivalries in Conference were much more intense then. Especially Syracuse and G’Town. But BC and Pitt, Nova etc we’re big too.

He's the Singleton/Glover lunch pail brute who have had success with us. You don't rely on them to win championships...but a team such as ours can't win without them.
Singleton and Glover are two of my all time favorite Redmen. But we can absolutely win without guys like them. As a matter of fact, Rick Pitino was brought here to make sure we win without guys like them- and by guys like them I mean undersized or unathletic players. That's basically what Pitino himself said in his post Seton Hall rant.

There are junkyard dog types who are 6'8 and Big East caliber athletes too. That's the whole reason he's here, to recruit guys like that instead of overachiever types whose best offer other than St Johns was Fairfield or Towson. That's not meant to be a knock on Ledlum. Just an acknowledgement that Pitino puts us on a whole new level.

OK, enough of that. Let's beat the shit out of Seton Hall. We owe them.

This MUST be a 40 minute, high energy effort game. Everything you work and play for could be on the line. Leave nothing to chance. Maybe you can’t control the result but you can control the effort. Pressure? Sure. However, this is what you play college basketball for.

Latest comments from Zach / N.Y. Post :

We had access today. Not much news. A few notes.

-- RIck Pitino said he expects 4-5 players back next year.

-- Team is confident that pressure they had to win out will help them on Thursday.

-- Big thing is matching Seton Hall's toughness.

-- Area Pitino feels is key is free throw line. In two Seton Hall games, St. John's attempted just 18 free throws, compared to 51 for Seton Hall.

-- If game is tight late, plan is to put RJ Luis on Kadary Richmond.

-- Pitino raved about how well Dre Davis is playing for Hall of late. They have to slow him down.

Take this for what's it's worth: St. John's is in 106 of 114 brackets on BracketMatrix.com. I think a win Thursday locks up a bid. Still could mean Dayton. Lose Thursday, probably a 50/50 shot, if not worse.

I was just in an elevator with the esteemed Bob Ryan of the Globe and asked if St Johns can win on Friday and avoid the play in game and he said that's a pretty low bar so I think he thinks we will win. Said it's been a difficult and weird year for CRP. Only had a minute so I couldn't get more POV from him.

I'm someone that will say the season's a failure on the court if they don't make the tournament, so in a small picture sense I don't disagree.

But in a big picture context, this season is already a massive win with all the developments going around off of it. Our attendance thread here hasn't been touched in a month because of how much juice is back, our NIL is top notch and competitive against 99% of teams in the country, and we have 4* kids returning next year & coming in our next HS class. The team next year will definitively not be a bubble team.

There's no reason to think this is same old St. John's -- we are back.
I agree with your big picture context but until we actually get back to the tournament and win a game like we are going to have on Thursday, it will still feel like same old St. John’s even though it’s not with all the other positive things going on in and around the program.
