Basketball schedule

Duke series is on hiatus, not discontinued. The ACC is going from 16 to 18 conference games this year. Duke needed non-conf relief. #stjbb

Too bad. I think we beat them this year.

Concur. I really wanted them this season at MSG.
If the series resumes the following year, we will be real tough Playing them at MSG then , I like our chances.

But not sure what their scholarship situation is but they would be getting top flight 13 kids. We would have more experience you would think.

We also are getting a little unlucky in terms of how our roster matches up against the schedule. Last year we were depleted and young and faced UK, Duke, UCLA among others. This season should feel like a cakewalk compared to that. We are still very young so I really see no problem with the OOC schedule and with all those titans we faced last year I have high expectations that we will not have any let downs early this season.

WVU 9-9 in BE last yr, 19-12 entering BE tournament made the NCAA tournament after losing their 1st Rd BE game with an OOC schedule of

Oral Roberts
Kent State
Alcorn State
Morehead State
Akron
Miss State (Ranked)
K State
Miami
Tex A&M CORPUS CHRISTI (Not the one you know)
Tenn Tech
Missouri STATE
Baylor (Ranked)
Marshall

And that was a Sr laden WVU team

Sucks but I thought previous mention from STJ was Branch could play Dec 16th. St. Francis game is Dec 15th so he will just have 1 tuneup (Asheville) before BE games.

Does anyone know how many games a team is allowed to schedule in a year?
I count 30 games for us if I'm adding correctly. Is 30 the max?
Thanks in advance.

I'm curious to see the Duke schedule - that out of the 30 games, implying 12 non-conference games, they scheduled us out. They must be playing one or two other games at MSG this year against other teams. Their alumni base in the NYC area really wants to see them in MSG (and now Barclays) at least once a year.

Duke's known non-conference is — Kentucky, Ohio State, Temple and Davidson. They are also in the Battle 4 Atlantis with Louisville, seed Missouri, Memphis, VCU, Stanford, Northern Iowa and Minnesota.

Kentucky, Davidson and Temple are neutral site. Ohio State is in Cameron.

Tough schedule for them. I'm not sure they'll be quite that good this year. I see why they didn't want us on top of that slate this year.

Duke graduates about 80% or higher in four years. Not sure how much turnover they will have which would give them good experience. Either way, I still think we win. Seems like Duke always takes us for granted.

I dont think Duke is going to take us for granted in the future. They will not be seeing Norms teams.

Maybe we can ask to be the third game of the triple header and ask to start the game at 12:01 am on the 16th or at least 11 pm on the 15th so he can play the second half. :)

You lost me on the graduating 80% stuff?

I checked the calendar on the schools official site and finals run through Dec 17 so my guess is he's not eligible til Dec 18th.

I do not see Duke or UCLA listed? Is the Duke series sover and did UCLA not renew? Our schedule is weak.

Duke series is on "hiatus" because the ACC conference schedule went from 16 games to 18 according to St. John's. The UCLA series was simply a home and home. The schedule doesn't have a lot of "big names" on it, but a lot of those teams are solid and saw tournament appearances.

Per St. John's twitter:

ESPN released times and TV info for the SEC/BIG EAST Challenge. #STJBB vs. South Carolina on Thurs., Nov. 29 will be at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

Love this start time. Those of us coming from work in the city won't have to rush to be there on time (I leave work at 5:30 - Those who leave at 6 might still need to pick it up a bit). That extra half-hour makes all the difference, IMO.

FWIW, Iona v. Rutgers in the other Holiday Festival game. I assume that's gonna be it for the day (no thid game a la Barclay's Center tripleheader the following week):

The master of stirring the pot at work.

The NY Post continues to be nothing more than a last ditch resort replacement for toilet paper.  Slightly OT but also the majority of media members for that matter and their entitlement is baffling.

Is the game going to be televised?
