That last shot was a hair touch ,perhaps after a hard fought game a hair touch should not effect the out come Also the shot was short a hair touch would not have prevented. It from making contact with the rim a good no call bias opinion
Glad we escaped with a win. I hope we can learn and profit from this.
Note to Coach Mullin: Practice Defense, especially from the 3.
I heard they practice the play where they foul a 3 point shooter on the elbow but the ref does not call it. It worked to perfection tonight
On a side note, Duke beat Auburn, 78-72. Duke only shot 25 more free throws than Auburn.
Refs will never work again. Duke usually gets 50 more.

We're small, & can't defend perimeter....I get that... but the lack of ball sharing may become our downfall.

Good for Ponds cleaning up his mess, but his penchant for unnecessary & bad shots will not help Heron & LJ gel as unit.

I still think Clark is supposed to be playing in the perimeter. Forget his size and big body. He’s a great shooter when not burdened by playing center. He’s really excellent. He has diverged from the role that some here want him to play. If he wasn’t playing center, imo, he’d be ripping threes easy and most of the time.

FWIW, Mullin is stupid for running a small bench. He’s a closed- minded guy and it almost cost us another game yet our talent came through...

Agree. VCU shouldn't be bailed out on a hail Mary shot form 30 feet out at the buzzer especially since maybe a pinkie grazed the shooters arm and I don't think really affected the shot.

He also owns the same wallet as Jules Winnfield

I thought we played a little selfishly tonight. Guys were not making the extra pass and trying to do it all alone. Ponds included. I know he's our guy down the stretch but throughout the game he needs better shot selection. A lot of guys were forcing the issue tonight and that doesn't make me feel very confident long term.
Not what i saw, Ponds the only guy that played selfish. Again can't say much because he won us the game. He is one of those guys who makes a good play and then a bad one right after, until crunch time of course. Much rather play like we did against Rutgers than these last two games. Notice when its the Ponds show we struggle. Hopefully it doesnt affect our team chemistry, obviously if we win it wont, but if we lose it could.
Part of the problem is so many times we have the ball at the top and everyone just stands around

I agree with the two other posters on this board who realize that the best game we’ve played all year was against Rutgers when we moved and shared the ball which resulted in a dominant performance against a a team that is better than the two we just played. The staff has to realize that also. Ponds has to realize that. It’s almost like Ponds was upset he only scored 8 against Rutgers and decided to make a statement these last two games. He won us these games but they shouldn’t have been this close and we are a better team when we are share the ball and the offense is inclusive of all five starters. We can’t win in conference with Ponds hogging the ball and Clark just jacking up 3’s.

A lot of knocks from posters on Ponds selfishness and Clark's lack of rebounding and all the work the players and the staff needs to do. You know what I saw? A great win by a team that fought back despite fighting exhaustion from playing way more minutes than VCU. I watched Ponds, for the second night in a row, show a level of skill and guts and pure clutch play that turned a sure fire defeat into a victory. I loved every minute of the final minutes and the OT. Winning was a great cherry on top of the cake. I thought a week ago that Heron would supplant Ponds as our best player. Looks like ponds read that post too, and gave me, and everyone, his answer. What a great win for the good guys.

Need to show Mikey Dixon some love he played a good game and hit a big 3. He also played solid defense. Not sure he is a PG though he seems better off the ball but then again he doesnt get much of a chance to run the point. Also Greg Williams is bigger than I thought him and Simon almost the same height.
Just noticed our pomroy rating dropped from 38 to 42 ?
They just realized we are going to play 7 guys the rest of the season

Just imagine how much bitching and moaning there would have been if we had lost. This board is barely readable after a win as it is.

Who’s the gimp?

Anyone notice how Trimble got buried at the end of the bench I believe the whole second half?

Just another thought, everyone is worried about our recruiting, well, if high school kids see that freshman never play at St. John’s and we only run 7 or 8 guys max, then why would any high school kids want to come here. Mullin is stubborn guy and it’s will affect us negatively down the road. He has hubris syndrome

Clark is hoisting way too many 3’s on this team . He was awful tonight . 1-8 from 3 point arc . As a result , not only was he off, but him shooting that much kept Figgy and Heron from getting involved in the flow of the offense . Ponds should be dishing to them more too, instead of just playing 1 on 1 . The NBA wants to see if he can distribute the rock and make his team better . Everyone knows he is a great Player but, he’s 6’1” and at the next level they aren’t going to give him or let him shoot 20-25 times a game .,
