Yes some things need to be addressed but at end of day no coach alive or dead would have a better record at this point.

And another good laugh. Just win baby. I may not like what I'm seeing but I'm liking the results so let's go with it for now, since it's what we're likely to get for the foreseeable future anyway..
Since we are not playing a great schedule the fact that we are struggling and still winning close games will only help us. There is no Duke in the BE this season. We will be in every game. We are getting great experience in playing close games. And in close games give me Ponds over any other player in the BE
You're missing the point. We all love Shamorie and want him to do well and get drafted. The point is none of these games should have been close. We survived a game we were favored by 19 points. Cal and VCU should have been a tuneup for Georgia Tech. The question should be "why are we struggling".
Forget it man the "intellectual" guys on here who think they are impressive by using big words on a basketball forum are never going to understand. To them no one likes to win and everything besides polishing the team off is a complaint. I will admit that a lot of guys complain too damn much (recruiting), which you do sometimes 72. But if you watched this VCU game and you can't see that they (mostly Ponds) made this game much harder than it had to be than you dont know sh*t about ball. Stop whining about what guys post about St. Johns on a St. Johns forum of all places. Everyone should be allowed to say how they feel about the team, enough with the sensitive crap its annoying. Also stop making intervention threads lol everybody apoligizing for being mean, its sports grow a pair, sounds like my wife and her friends on here sometimes.
You're a meanie!

concerning fran's recruiting comments.
a few years ago the "talk" was that high schoolers just wanted wine, women, song, glitz.
it was the jucos, transfers that wanted the dough, ray, me.
is it that now everyone wants to be shown the grants?

Baboom.

I think it was bobby knight who talked about playing against the game of basketball. To me the epitome of not getting rewarded with wins for talent is Dominique Wilkins. Going through game after game with teammates learning that moving without the ball does not matter is the formula for losing against better competition.

I had the game recorded and set to extend for 15 minutes and started watching it at 1 am without looking online or this forum, of course the game ends up in OT and I missed the last minute and half of play because my box stopped recording (next time will extend for 30 minutes). One thing that I noticed last night that I hope works itself out is that Figueroa's basketball IQ may be just a slight level above everyone else on the floor and I hope that among the shooters the players can continue to learn each others flow. There was times that I felt that Ponds could have let the other players touch the ball more and I think the other players may have been frustrated by that. Also contrary to popular belief I thought that Fran called the game well given his history with the program.
Figueroa is already my favorite player on the team. He’s an old school kind of player: Heady, undercontrol, selfless, etc. He’s also really intense as evidenced by his reaction to Simon’s bad pass to him. You may be right that some of the other kids are frustrated at times by Ponds, but I also see them as resigned to the fact that Ponds is going to go one on one in a lot of situations. So they just stand around and watch. As we start to play against better comp, Ponds is going to need to have everyone involved in the offense in order to keep the defenses honest. Hopefully he’ll be willing to do that.
Mullin will have to ensure involvement. Too much talent to have the ball get sticky. And, bad game aside, Heron is every bit as talented and cannot be wasted. He looked like he was battling something last night. Didn’t seem to have the energy.

Thankfully Ponds is an amazing finisher and should give lessons to Clark and Simon on how to create the proper angles on drives. Simón, in particular, would be great if he could master it. He is almost too fast for his own good.

On unrelated note, saw Keita take a seat in the stands in 2nd half with knee brace and crutches. Hope he makes it back on court soon.

In any case, this is definitely the type of game we would have lost in the past with the difference being we would have been up 7/8 and blown the lead. As much as I want them to beat down teams a win is a win. I feel like these nail biters will be the norm this year.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Go Johnnies.

Thank you so much for the full game link.

This season's online stream sites (vipBox, ATDHE, feed2all or FirstRow) are rarely working from overseas.

Go Red!

17 more wins will make the CM's all- time coaching record above .5 this year.

a couple years back at ESPN Radio/ Jimmy V golf outing, I was 1 of the sponsors and im in the Liquor Biz, met Seth greenberg and asked about SJU and Lavin recruiting, his exact words which i didn't really understand at the time was Lavins shoe money dried up so that's why we had a hard time recruiting, after the recent scandal now i get it!

It's not about angles or speed for Simon...it's a complete and utter lack of skill. He has to go full speed because he does not possess the ability to read and/or counter a defender and he doesn't have the ability to change his pace. He needs to go 0-60 because he is a two dribble player that needs needs those huge strides to make up the missing bounce. He has to rely on his athletic ability.

2 point VCU win in OT. Hofstra was down 13 at half.
