Bahamas Tourney

I wish the cheapest Grand Hyatt offer charged everything upfront so I'd get rid of 75% of the sticker shock before going.

If you book at Baha Mar its buy 3 nights get the 4th one free. So if you fly in Thursday am you can stay till Monday am for the same (f***ing exhorbitant, should be illegal) price.

EDIT: as per the Baha Mar Twitter acct, games on Thursday will be evening games. (Last year the first day games were earlier). Even more reason to fly in Thursday and stay till Monday am.

There's also a AAA special that includes the 4th night free plus a $200 credit. Slightly more expensive for rooms but saves around $120. That $120 could probably get you 4-5 cocktails. ;)

I already got a flight Thurs morning through Monday, so I'm planning on getting an Atlantis day pass & going to the game on Sunday. Scared to book the hotel but now have no choice. lol
Stay somewhere else, a lot cheaper.

I finally got tickets as well and decided to treat ourselves by staying at Baha Mar. The room prices aren't that onerous on their face but the VAT and resort fees and taxes add up. But since I had booked the hotel and flights last month, seeing the website freezing today was not fun. Considering that the place looks like it holds 2,000, it apparently didn't take too much action to freeze since they're still selling tickets. Jet Blue on Wednesday afternoon, return on Monday morning. Added an extra day and changed the flight home to accomodate the extra game.

Strange that Georgia is playing Marquette in a single game on the 23rd at Atlantis so it made sense for both teams to meet. I suspect that the two schools will be selling tickets for that one since it's not a third party event.

We all use different airlines but I got a package from JetBlue that was a few dollars cheaper than this, and included my airfare for two. No $200 credit. Just as an FYI for any other JetBlue folks.

Talking about hotels. NM you might be talking about hotels through Jetblue. The 4th night free looks like it's available through NDC/OTAs so probably about the same. Published rate is $699 for those rooms for 3 nights.

I had rooms at $450 booked a long while ago but for 3 nights but cancelled them today as I won't be able to go. Plus side is I got my AA miles back over 200K for the next opportunity.

Yes, still the same room type at Grand Hyatt with this package, and I think I saved a few dollars. Probably not!

With the GA game now official, I'm still weighing if I will change orig plan of fly in Wed - depart Sun, to arrive Thurs day of 1st game and depart Mon instead.

I know tnice mentioned Thurs game will be evening. I do see on ticket order page it references 7PM for Thurs.. I've sent an email to Baha Mar Hoops to confirm 7PM earliest game but have not gotten response yet.

Also, still not crazy about having to take a 20-30 min cab ride between hotels, especially if ends up a night game on Sun.

Who else is definitely planning to stay for GA game? Might imagine a larger GA turnout at Atlantis since it's at their same location for their other game.

I changed my plans once the GA game was scheduled and bught my game tickets yesteday. I never received a confirmation email but I sent them a message and the marketing person forwarded the confirmation. Remarkably in the year 2024, the tickets are....paper! To be picked up at the box office on game day.

As to travel back and forth to Atlantis, maybe if there are enough of us going we can rent a minibus, or maybe even SJU would arrange something...
