light up a doobie at mid court, etc etc. My blood pressure has already dropped.
I don't know what;s more disturbing. CO leaving or the fact a dude just referenced Nashville in this thread. After reading all the posts in this topic, it sounds like the title sound be changed to "Good News- Obekpa is leaving SJU!".
Following St. John's BB is like watching "Nashville". The Ups and Downs keep coming! They never end.
While I think most of us would have preferred to keep RJ and Obekpa for another year, there would always be drama, game in and game out.
Obekpa lost me with the weed situation at the end of the season. It told me that he lacked sense and a true commitment to both the team, and more importantly, himself. Self destruction is never a good trait to have.
Onward to the next saga of "Live as a St. John's BB Fan."
Could be a lot of different reasons, maybe he saw his role and PT dwindling (perhaps Papa is coming?), maybe RJ leaving was a factor, maybe he just didn't fit into coach Mullin's system. If he in fact is leaving, I don't think it takes anything away from our win column next season. CO has a lot of growing up to do, he could have used another year in college for many reasons.
We are going to see a different brand a caliber of basketball next season. No matter what our W-L is, I'm looking forward to it.
I agree that losing Obekpa & Jordan clearly hurts our chances for a decent next season. Mussini (if he comes) is not in Jordan's class & "weeding" Chris out leaves gaping hole on the interior. That said, I think effecting positive cultural change has its initial bumps, but am extremely confident this hard working, goal directed staff will get us on track for sustainable, high quality success.Could be a lot of different reasons, maybe he saw his role and PT dwindling (perhaps Papa is coming?), maybe RJ leaving was a factor, maybe he just didn't fit into coach Mullin's system. Sorry, but saying that it won't affect our win column is a pipe dream. Optimism is great, but I don't understand those posters who say "addition by subtraction" every time we lose an impact player.
I agree. We have had so much addition by subtraction that we should be a championship team. Hopefully the Mullin era will bring more stability, which I think it will.Could be a lot of different reasons, maybe he saw his role and PT dwindling (perhaps Papa is coming?), maybe RJ leaving was a factor, maybe he just didn't fit into coach Mullin's system. Don't think we will get Papagiannis & won't be a bubble team IMO. We'll see. Btw, I will feel a little better when I see Sima & LoVett eligible. Not suggesting they won't make it, but anxiously awaiting confirmation. With them in hand & no big surprises to help address interior void, I still am prepared for a challenging year. To me that is obviously not preferable, but if it is a price to pay to change the culture here I am ok. Just me.I agree that losing Obekpa & Jordan clearly hurts our chances for a decent next season. Paultzman, I agree with you 100% on the cultural change and the track that Mullin and his staff will put us on etc. But, If we are able to get Mussini and Papagiannis, you still don't think that we can be NCAA bubble team?

Spot on. All this blind optimism, do no wrong attitude is going to lead to some real bitching and crying when we have a bad season and mediocre ones to follow until we finally reach our peak, whenever that will be. Our coach hasn't coached a game in his life at the college level and many on here think we are instantly a top program now.
The thought of those 2 not qualifying send shivers down my back. If Sima doesn't qualify who will be next years Center? And if he does he's young and who will back him up? And if you really want to play Devils advocate, Lovett doesn't qualify and Missini doesn't pop for us. Despite this short term drama, agree w Paultz, thinking the long term will be good. But, I think it's going to be harder for Mullin to recruit if we are the doormat of the BE.Don't think we will get Papagiannis & won't be a bubble team IMO. We'll see. Getting players like LoVett, Williams, & Sima consistent playing time (Mussini & Papa too if they choose SJU). Due to their inexperience, I doubt they win much more than 15 games. .
