Attendance

Just a couple weeks ago our resume was pretty mediocre, and it's only the past day where it started becoming solid. Let's wait until the team becomes relevant nationally first and see how much attendance picks up. I have a feeling it'll keep going up and up if we continue winning.
Agree 110%. Had we beat Michigan, had we beat Boston College, there would be a much greater buzz about the team. If we keep winning games the attendance will improve nicely. But in a city with so much competition for entertainment dollars there must be a good product. As you said this is not Syracuse, Oxford Miss, Baton Rouge, Lexington etc.

It is very underrated the negative impact of the Michigan lost had on overall buzz for the team in the city.

Right now there's still plenty of seats available in the 100s, and a lot on one side of the 200s (and they aren't even selling most of it). $98 for a seat in the 200s seems like a lot though.

I know the school doesn't set the prices, but that's insane.

Yeah Rows 1-4 are $98 and past that are $78 for section 223. It's very similar to Knicks prices.

The one good thing about it is it's convinced me I'm better off just getting season tickets next year. 🤣
Can you still get season tickets at a prorated price?

Not sure if you mistyped your last sentence .
plenty of seats in 100s (NOT 200s) on seatgeek for $80-100

Ok. I know I constantly harp, but Wednesday is a chance for all fans who have strongly held beliefs that MSG should be our home court to go online today and buy tickets. Stub hub prices starting at $41 before fees, and the 4 pack family specials may still be available at $120.

For all of you Missourians from the Show me State, be advised: You have been shown, and now it's very good. Rise up off your couch, and let's serve notice that St. John's basketball is ALIVE after a long hiatus and finally returned home.

Home court advantage = a home filled with our fans

I hope that was nice enough. Don't want any fans waiting for us to win the Big East championship to be offended.

Agree. I’ll be there with 6 others (all seasons) and just bought 3 to SH at Prudential. Understand that everyone’s life is different but if you have nothing “in the way” get there.

I like using Ticketmaster to gauge expected attendance since it'll show you what seats are still available at face value. The grey ones mean it's not even being sold. Dark blue means it's available + not a resell. The screenshot is a 223 section ticket (middle court but still), of a face value ticket available. (I also have a chrome extension that shows the seats price in different apps which is why there's light blue).

The resale market from people who already bought is reasonable. The prices for the unsold tickets is a large factor in them remaining unsold.

For Michigan they slashed prices the last week and a lot of tickets were sold. That also sent a message to any smart consumer to wait before buying.

agree..especially for a weeknight with our current standing. I get that the school doesn't set the price but just once would love to see what a $40-50 ticket price would generate in incremental seats sold. Sure you'd make less per ticket, but can sell a lot more at concesssions.

I consider the season ticket prices reasonable. The family four packs are a very good value. But I can’t blame anyone who is not buying those tickets for the costs listed on Ticketmaster in the 200s.

I'll be at MSG this Wed. But I'll understand if it's "only" 10,000 in attendance. If you go back and look at Lavin's first year, the year we danced, and see the attendance in early January against G'town and Notre Dame, they were both well below 10,000. You need to win consistently to get the non-diehards in the door.
I was going to mention this.

For the Pitt game that everyone remembers we did not sell out. The lower bowl was full. And bc we were all concentrated in the lower sections the energy felt big.

I don’t think there’s much we can do about the causal fan. There isn’t enough marketing to get them excited about a game against providence.

The school needs to go ALL OUT to get current students to the game. I’ve said it before, but give them free train or bus rides. Vouchers for free food. Incentivize them to go. They’re the ones that bring the energy. We need the students!

Agree..but It's winter break for students. Even harder to get a large last minute contingent of them.

I don’t buy tix in advance. Wait until 15 min before game time. Prices are slashed. No seller wants to get stuck with unsold tix. You can download purchased tix in MSG lobby. Just be patient.
