Attendance

LSU v South Carolina women's game last night was sold out. SJU fans should take a lesson from the LSU/South Carolina fans.
I think the comment would be way more apropos if the Johnnie’s were home, playing on campus, the defending national champions, ranked 9th in the country (LSU), and playing a conference rival that is undefeated and ranked #1 (SC).

I don’t understand. First, you cannot fathom why a New York kid would play in the south, but now you are imploring SJU fans to take note of attendance in the same south you lament.

Hey, maybe you unintentionally answered your own question. The crazy fandom is a big reason why a kid from up here wants to play down there.
You should have been a prosecuting atty

One has nothing to do with the other. I don't understand a NYC player wanting to play at certain southern schools (Alabama, Baylor). That has nothing to do with criticizing the lack of attendance by SJU fans. I never criticize the attendance at college basketball games at any southern school.
In the future, I'll have you review my opinions before I post them because I don't want to upset you too much. Pretty clear you don't want to see the opinions of people who don't agree with your beliefs.

Dude. Relax. I never said anything like that. You can make as many posts with varying degrees of opinions as you wish. But with that, anyone can come back with a counterpoint. If not, then it looks like your feelings were a bit hurt.

My point was fairly easy to understand: Being the kings (or queens) of campus has always been an allure for recruits, and most of those college crazy sports towns are in the south. That’s why recruits go there.

The attention is nowhere near that in New York, unless SJU wins big.

I'll say this very confidently. If we were either the team that won two championships in six years (South Carolina) or the team that won one national championship the year before (LSU), we would sell every game out at MSG -- including Fordham.

To add, South Carolina was ranked 1st and LSU 9th in the country and they were battling for first in the Conference.

It's going to be a big UCONN crowd for certain. SJU is countering that by promoting FREE tickets for ALL SJU students until 1/31 to be ordered online and picked up at school. Could be a sellout. Tickets selling in 400s mostly to uconn fans.
Good, let them stay in the 400s. I'm in the 200s, bringing my bro with me.

SJU is gonna be rocking the Garden baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many others have made this point already but do you not see how ridiculous it is to compare St. John’s attendance to the attendance of two schools that have won recent national championships in the past 2-3 years?

As Dk said I’d love to see attendance at MSG if we won the title last year. Then maybe your comparison would be in good faith.

People like to go see winners. We’re building towards being known as winners, but year 1 of pitino is about setting the foundation for that

Already there is a bump. I can tell by who is showing up for games and pregames, such as the deans of all the colleges, lots if faculty and admin, lots of younger fans <60 who didn't come out in numbers before.

If we don't beat uconn in the garden, it will sound like an away game to your point. It's like looters coming into your house and making themseves at hone. But also creighton, marquette, almost every opponent is able to get good seats at the garden in good numbers.

I am really annoyed that i couldn't add 2 seats to my already very good garden and ca seats , yet my section vs. Villanova was about 25-30% Nova. Lots of ticket resale companies buy season tickets and score on big games.

It's not really a great fan reaction when a ranked team sells out. Everyone wants tix to a winner and as Syracuse showed, you can sell 40,000 for basketball in a dump like Syracuse when you are a nationslly ranked team.

The great thing is now great women's teams sell out too.

The secondary market already has tickets being sold in the 400's for the UConn game next Saturday at the Garden. It should be close to a sellout. We have to make sure that the Yukon faithful, who are likely responsible for these ticket sales compared to the PC, Marquette and Nova games, do not drown out Johnnies Nation. Please make sure to show up in force and in red to support our team.
