Attendance

Plenty of tickets available tomorrow at the Prudential Center which seats close to 17,000. Way cheaper than individual game SJU tickets at MSG. Seton Hall is the hottest team in the Big East and might be ranked later today.

Looking forward to Zachs article today belittling Seton Hall fans for all these seats still being available. Or does he only tell SJU fans what to do with their money?

Unless they've changed their policy, the top level is usually curtained off. Capacity for Seton Hall games is more like 9 or 10K.
I know. They don’t even try to sell those. That’s my point. It’s easy to say you have sellouts when you don’t count most of the seats. And when SJU has 10,000 for a game pitchforks come out.

Seems like a double standard.

Everyone’s favorite topic. Snow looks to be a dud. Would be nice to have a packed house for this big game tomorrow. I’ll be there with 10 others rooting us home.

I'll be there as well with five others. Based on ticketmaster dots, it looks like it'll be a similar turnout to Providence.

Another great night at MSG!

I thought the crowd was great…..ratio of SJU to Nova fans was solid and the Nova contingent was relatively quiet since they didn‘t have much to get excited about….

Stout event was awesome…..probably twice as many people as the Providence event…..such a great way to get fired up for the game….

Another sign that we are relevant again? Celebrities! Jumbotron showed John Franco, Steve Schirripa (from the Sopranos), some UFC fighter and 2 comedians (didn’t know either of them but I’m old!)……

Also, the last 2 ladies who sung the National Anthem (Marquette and Nova), were absolutely spectacular….they should be brought back for future games…..

One last thing….I never read the game threads until after the game and only if we win…..was expecting a relative love fest last night but it amazes me how nasty some of the posts were for a 20 point win……these kids came to play for my alma mater and for that alone, I’ll never trash them…..criticism is fair but some of these posts are just silly and mean…..

One of the comedians you were referring to was Chris Distefano. Born in brooklyn and grew up in staten island. Good to see local NYC celebrities show up.

Funny guy. He actually played college basketball and he regularly wears a Mullin jersey.

Who was the other comedian ?

Yes I would say 70/30 to 80/20. Hard to tell because they were so quiet except for one ovation before a TO when they narrowed the second half deficit. Plus some folks wear those navy blue SJU shirts with the red lettering, which from afar can be difficult to tell whether it’s SJU or Nova.

I’d say more Nova fans than Marquette for sure. Probably similar to Providence, except the Friar faithful is a far more rowdy bunch and had several opportunities to get loud in the second half of that game.

For those commenting on the Hall and Prudential Centre, I have several friends who root for the Pirates. They most always only open the “lower bowl”, whether for weekdays or weekends. So they call a “sellout” when they get 9 or 10k. My friends tell me their message board is a rollercoaster of paranoia before every home game, constantly speculating on crowd size, begging people to show, complaining about the crowd and the like. They don’t open the top level for Rutgers because they are afraid RU fans will pack the place.

Really happy I bought tickets in the 100s in early November (2 for $220) for UConn game. Cheapest tickets in my section (104) is now $225 for 1!
It's going to be a big UCONN crowd for certain. SJU is countering that by promoting FREE tickets for ALL SJU students until 1/31 to be ordered online and picked up at school. Could be a sellout. Tickets selling in 400s mostly to uconn fans.

LSU v South Carolina women's game last night was sold out. SJU fans should take a lesson from the LSU/South Carolina fans.
I don’t understand. First, you cannot fathom why a New York kid would play in the south, but now you are imploring SJU fans to take note of attendance in the same south you lament.

Hey, maybe you unintentionally answered your own question. The crazy fandom is a big reason why a kid from up here wants to play down there.
