According to Slater, Van Macon is "trying hard" to land a spot on St John's staff
His name did come up recently.
Tell him to bring French along and I'll pick him up at the airport.
Van Macon would be solid #2
Maybe after this guy..

Taking a fare from Zaun... Savage
Yeah would be great to have a 2nd solid AC hitting the pavement ASAP.
This weekend is the evaluation period then 4 days to recruit open-ended, then a 13-day 'quiet period' ending May 15th, where only on campus visits are allowed, then a 9-day 'dead period', then a 7-day 'quiet period' to end May.
M’y son is playing in Dallas this weekend and I asked him to look out for a St. John’s coach. Will let you all know if he sees one at the FIELDHOUSE. He sent me a picture of a Dartmouth coach having dinner in his hotel earlier this evening and I replied now that is perfect for you. Great academics, perfect level of bball and not too far a drive from Montreal :)

Hey, it worked out well for Rudy LaRusso. (I guess I am an old geezer.)

Does your son have a list of schools yet?

Zags
Mike Anderson And TJ Cleveland are both here in Atlanta for @StJohnsBBall . No official word on the rest of the staff and there’s a lot of interest obviously.

The team needs 1 or 2 guards including a PG and they may go JUCO or grad transfer route.

No way. Our head coach out recruiting?!?!?

We’ve been told by Making Plays they were recruiting Javion Hamlet, JUCO, a highly effective PG, while at Arkansas, and recruited Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey, PG, a Grad Transfer, when he was in HS.
Other needs exist if we were to lose a Figgy and, being greedy, I’d also luv another PF...or 2.
Lol.

And a staggering level of debauchery (I know two guys who played hoops there). Your son will love it.
Very happy, it's 'official' with TJC. The AHC spot 'inevitable'was I think once Mel W opted to stay home.
Excited to see what JUCO and transfer plums TJC can get for us even at this late date and almost as enthused to see how he improves our guard play.
He worked a dramatic improvement in the Razorback guards when he first became an AC there.
Melvin didn’t “opt” to stay home. CMA just decided to go in a different direction with this job. MW is almost 65 years old. Wanted to come, but MA shut it down. TJ has been more like the AHC the last 4-5 years anyways regardless of title.

Ivies are great but no athletic scholarships! Best of luck to your son this weekend

One possibility, if a DOBO is easier to fill, maybe CMA can find his DOBO and elevate home to recruiting until #2 Joins

He was also not a fan of Lavin if my memory serves me correctly
And, eventually, he won't like MA either. Arbitello has an unrealistic expectation of how much deference should be paid to him by any St. John's coach.
