Asst coach discussion
Anderson on TJ: “He’s a great head coach in waiting”
Didn't Louie say that about Brian?

Very happy, it's 'official' with TJC. The AHC spot 'inevitable'was I think once Mel W opted to stay home.
Excited to see what JUCO and transfer plums TJC can get for us even at this late date and almost as enthused to see how he improves our guard play.
He worked a dramatic improvement in the Razorback guards when he first became an AC there.

You got the Yule log on already?
Anderson on TJ: “He’s a great head coach in waiting”
That seems like something that might scare off other assistant candidates.

Perhaps they “deputize” Huey as they did with Luca last year to cover this weekend.
According to Slater, Van Macon is "trying hard" to land a spot on St John's staff
His name did come up recently.
Who is Van Macon?
Just googled the guy Tommy! He's AHC at St. Louis since 2016, was AC for 6 yrs before that at Rutgers, and AC & AHC at Hofstra 9 years before that; NYC roots, was a medical redshirt at LIU and played at Nassau Community & Suffolk Community; apparently strong NYC recruiting contacts.
Maybe he knows Iron Mike. Dunno.

If cma hired hsu just to have lj come back, i can't speak for anyone else, but I'd lose all respect for him
Agreed. And I can assure he won't do that. If Hsu gets hired it's because CMA sees him as a fit and feels he can help his program. But, from everything I've been hearing Hsu coming to St. John is very unlikely.

Also, CMA already had a situation like this at Arkansas, Malik Monk (McDonald All-American and current Charlotte Hornet) brother was a Grad Assistant under Anderson and graduated and there was heavy rumors that he was interested in an assistant coaching position and a lot of people wanted CMA to give Marcus (Malik's brother) an assistant coaching spot to ensure he came to Arkansas, and CMA did not budge on that. That's not the way he operates, he makes everyone around him earn what they get. As you can see his nephew has been with him now 17 years, and he's just now getting to be an Associate Head Coach, he worked his way up and earned that position.

Yeah would be great to have a 2nd solid AC hitting the pavement ASAP.
This weekend is the evaluation period then 4 days to recruit open-ended, then a 13-day 'quiet period' ending May 15th, where only on campus visits are allowed, then a 9-day 'dead period', then a 7-day 'quiet period' to end May.

Hi Making Plays.
Would you know if Iron Mike knows Van Macon, an AC at St. Louis? There's some buzz about the guy...
Van Macon would be solid #2
Agreed. Someone we had actually heard of long before this coaching search.

I haven't heard of any previous ties, but it's possible it could be some. I just seen on twitter Andrew Slater posted that. I personally never heard of the guy so, I went and googled him and read his bio. Seems like he fits a need, ties to the NY area, plus he's a big man coach. CMA already got a guard coach, and if Borman is added, which I hope he is, that's your top notch recruiter right there, so I would be very pleased with that staff.

Now, here's another guy I was wondering about (I haven't heard anything, just me thinking out loud). he should have ties to CMA considering he played under Don Haskins, who CMA's mentor, Nolan Richardson played for.

That’s funny!
Actually Young was team manager/video coordinator at St. John’s a few coaches ago; forget the year.
He’s been dong a good job for UCONN the past year.
Ugh.
Lol.
