Assistant Coaches

@franfraschilla: Known Chris Mullin and Barry "Slice" Rohrssen since they were 14. Add Matt Abdelmassih into the mix and you have great recruiting staff.

Hey there Fran said something pleasant about St John's! Wow.

Actually I think he has been pretty fair with us. He definitely found his calling in broadcasting.

I'm the biggest Fran fan around and I think he always likes to take his shots whenever possible at SJU. Even the above comment. He couldn't just say great staff. he had to say great recruiting staff. I agree that Fran does a great job in the booth.

Fran likes to perpetuate the idea that "no one can win there" to validate the worst career decision a Big East coach ever made.

Staff will be great no matter how it fills out. I want to see Paultzman's avatar with guards on it. If PG played PG, why can't Samir?

Phil Greene was not a point guard and didn't play well in that role. He was much better this year playing primarily off the ball. We want a true PG who will be able to facilitate offense or ideally someone like Sheed who can do that and also score. It would be nice if Samir could play some point but I don't want to go into next year with him as our primary ball handler or rely on him for big minutes. I'd hope he would be more of a 6th/7th man off the bench used for his scoring. That's the role that Phil probably should have played throughout his career.

Agree that PG could not play point but I think Samir is better and at least it's an option especially if shooting guard is not Balamou and can share the ball handling responsibilities.

I have confidence this staff is smart enough to be pursuing PGs especially in event Jordan departs. Don't know who or where, but I'll trust them. Certainly combo guards like Mussini will be in the mix as well. Doughty would never be given PG responsibility. Let's see how this plays out, a lot of irons in fire I bet.

Maybe there is a PG out there that Slice was working on before he got Briscoe to commit.

Besides Lovett the only other highly rated PG out there appears to be some kid named Nick Noscowiak. He has Iowa State on his list. Maybe Matt A has a relationship?

He suffers from depression, so if he was indeed brought aboard fans should mentally prepare themselves now to avoid having to rip him later.

Maybe there is a good JUCO PG out there somewhere.

Irons in the fire says it all!
Chris Mullin has & will bring us options and alternatives. Solutions! Something we haven't had in decades. So yes aptly phrased.

Irons in the fire!

Signed a NLI with Marquette and was then released so he couldn't play for SJU anyway.

Jamal Murray , 6 5 of Kitchner Ontario who may reclassify to 2015 should be number one on the list.

Now that would be something.
