They call him "Bad New" Barnes for a reason. Excellent power forward.

Think "Bad News" was Jim Barnes who played for Texas Western and the Knicks, not Marvin.

Which is funny because I was going to use an entirely different wrong nickname and call him the human eraser which was Marvin Webster. LOL

Jalen Brunson will announce for Villanova on Wednesday. If anything, this will help SJU with Briscoe since with the commitment of Brunson, Villanova will no longer make as much sense as a destination for Briscoe and Briscoe will most likely cross them off his list. Villanova was very much in the Briscoe recruitment, trust me on that. This again is good news for SJU.

Yep. Nice pick up by Wright.

DePaul is a mess;

@JonRothstein: DePaul has dismissed Charles McKinney for a violation of team rules, per the school. Would have been potential starter.

Remember thinking he was even better than Bill Walton coming out of college. Him and SJU's Ed Searcy had one of the greatest rebounding battles I have ever seen spring of '73 at Alumni Hall a 93-90 Friar win.

I remember Ed Searcy very well! If I recall he had a 40" vertical leap! When he went up for a rebound, it took him ten minutes to come down!

With all the trouble he used to get into including assaulting someone with a tire iron he certainly was referred to as Bad News as his bio states.

Let it be known that after his visit with Brunson on Tuesday, Jay Wright and Baker Dunleavy were on a plane to Oregon to visit with Oregon's #1 player and Top 40 2016 PG Payton Pritchard. For the good of the Big East, I hope Lavin is out there busting his ass like this.

I guess eventually I will get over my dislike for the traitors & The ACC, but until then I will still love watching them make believe they are a real football conference. Once you take FSU & maybe Clemson out of the mix, man this league is a joke. Virginia Tech & Louisville get knocked out of the Top 25 last week after losing to unranked teams, UNC gets crushed by East Carolina (after they beat VT last week), Syracuse continues to be a joke in football (barely beat Villanova the first week of the season & lost today to a former ACC school, I love it), Virginia & Pitt both lose today & Miami has become totally irrelevant. Maybe they can rely on the momentum of BC & Duke. While I’m at it, how about Rutgers, West Virginia & UConn, talk about taking the football world by storm. But I digress.

And it continued this past weekend with BC losing at home to Colorado State and Pitt losing at home to Akron! Florida State is the only powerhouse program and I'm sure the ACC brass is thrilled with the whole Winston fiasco.

Update on the Butler situation.

Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN
Sad news of Butler’s Brandon Milller taking leave of absence. Close friends of his told me he has basically been out of contact for months.

Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN
They also said that virtually no one saw him out in July during recruiting period. Would not be shocked if he does not return.

Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN ·
Miller left the business a few years back at assistant at Ohio State for what sources told ESPN were stress-related issues.

Really sad news. That's a tough place to be and an illness where people aren't generally bringing casserole's over but criticizing your fortitude. I hope this ends well.
