So much for anyone who assumed DePaul would be an automatic win. Nova survives, wins by 3

I think Nova thought it would be an automatic win.

Sometimes that happens. A really bad team can get up for a game like that, and a really good team overlooks them (no one's going to overlook DePaul after this one, I can assure you).

Even us last year. We took Xavier to the final 2 minutes both times, and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against Seton Hall. Even the two Nova games were not exactly blowouts.

Creighton looks great against Seton Hall. Watson is averaging 9 assists a game and they have a 7' Center that hits 76% from the field.

3 other BE games tonight (everyone but obviously us and Butler started the conference season).

Xavier blew out Providence by 26.

Creighton leads the Hall by 13 at the break.

Marquette got off to a 16-2 start vs. Gtown, but the Hoyas are coming back. Still, the game is only 8 minutes old.

Maurice Watson at 5'10 is similar to Lovett on offense but a better defensive player.

He is a senior. If we can build a team around Ponds as quickly as Creighton did around Watson then we are on to something.

If Creighton does not have any injuries of consequence & gets right draw, they may have Elite Eight potential & perhaps Final Four. Early, but like this team.

Obviously this is their highest ranking so I'm not saying anything earth shattering by thinking this is their best team to date. They always have the shooters but this year they have a very athletic team, especially in the backcourt.

And an athletic big in Patton, a marked departure from those "Paul Bunyan" guys they always have.

And guy that no one talks about - Khyri Thomas - a 6'3 guard who is shooting an astonishing 60% from the field and measly 55% from three. Thats in 25 minutes a night with plenty of attempts. Unreal

That's why we love college BB and the BE. On any given night an upset is possible. To your point, it does not bode well for us but I think we might have a few surprise wins along the way.

Some had Creighton buried after McDermott graduated but they still have the big McDermott who is recruiting well and is a very good coach.

In South Florida for the week, so won't be at tonight's game. Will watch on FS1 and to those of you going, I want to hear a loud crowd! Go Johnnies!

Last thing I want to hear after this game is that "we didn't come out with any intensity. Our effort was not there", from any players.
