"It’s a big Saturday for the Big East.

Three of the league’s top teams will try to validate strong starts against dangerous opponents and rapidly improving Marquette will seek its first marquee win of the season against in-state rival Wisconsin.

No. 1 VILLANOVA (9-0) vs. No. 23 NOTRE DAME (9-0) Winner: Villanova 74 - 66

No. 17 WISCONSIN (8-2) at MARQUETTE (7-2) (Saturday, 2 p.m. EST) Projected winner: Wisconsin

No. 22 CINCINNATI (7-1) at No. 16 BUTLER (8-1) (Saturday, 4:30 p.m. EST) Projected winner: Cincinnati

UTAH (6-1) at No. 13 XAVIER (7-2) (Saturday, 5:30 p.m. EST) Projected winner: Xavier"

Wisconsin beats Marquette 93-84 after trailing at the half.

GT beat LaSalle easily.

Watched some of the Norte Dame and Villanova game today. Villanova runs some great plays.

Thank God the big east added those Midwest schools! They know how hire talented coaches and those coaches add key 4 star players year in and year out. There is very little drama there and while we live on Broadway they now own it.

That's true but, to me, the "new" Big East will never really be THE Big East
I miss some of the old rivalries from the 60's and 70's (Syracuse, BC, Yukon, etc)
I understand why they kept the name but I almost wished we had a new name
After all, it's a very different league these days

Granted, it is a very different league, but the Big East name gives the conference an instant credibility (unlike, say, the American Athletic Conference) and a history that fans in other parts of the country immediately recognize, regardless of the realignment. And Nova's win in last season's title game seriously builds on that continuum: another national championship for a Big East team ... a conference that's still to be reckoned with.

Seton hall with impressive win over South Carolina. Two tough teams showing how you play defense and compete.

I love the kids Carrington and Rodriguez. And boy does Delgado rebound in traffic.

And for all the knocks on Willard, he gets these very productive transfers.

This is not meant as a knock on Mullin as Willard has been at it for 5 or 6 years.

I was at the Seton Hall game last night & was very close to the bench (b/c I was photographing) & got to hear Willard getting into it with one of the refs after a questionable call. At one point the ref was telling him why he blew the whistle (presumably on a SHU player) and Willard barked back "come on this is the Big East". Gotta say this about Willard, he has a lot of conference pride, remember his pre-game talk to this team prior the the Villanova game in the Big East Tournament, he, & I am sure the other coaches as well, get why the Big East is so unique. We may not have the football behind us, but we sure as hell can take them on anytime, anyplace.

The top six teams in the Big East (Nova, X, SH, PC, Butler, Creighton) have a combined record of 54-7. League has been terrific out of gate.

Sorry. Delayed due to lost shoe at security check point. Guess we should pour another one.
