Told that Marquette edged Dayton in closed scrimmage. Haanif Cheatham led Marquette and Charles Cooke led Dayton.

Cheatham is a good one. Guess they do keepscore in these scrimmages. Rhode Island will give us a better gauge to where we are than Baruch will.

Fwiw from Zagoria
Per box score, Penn State d. Seton Hall 86-73 but Pirates starters sat last 11 mins. Shep Garner 15, Julian Moore 12, Lamar Stevens 11

For Seton Hall, Myles Powell 7-9 for 18 points, Angel Delgado 6-6 for 17 and 7 boards, Desi Rodriguez 14 and 5.

Have not seen Powell, but friends who have say he is very good. Kid lost a ton of weight apparently. Shooter!

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team opened its 2016-17 season on Sunday afternoon with a scrimmage against Missouri that was closed to the media and public. Recent NCAA legislation now allows postgame publicity of the result, which saw the teams tie 41-41 in the first 20 minutes before Creighton outscored the Tigers 45-31 after the score was reset for the final 20 minutes.

Creighton started quickly in both halves, racing to a 20-10 lead in the opening stanza while getting points from six different contributors. The Tigers clawed back to retake a 32-28 lead with 4:14 left in the first half before CU rallied to knot the score at 33-all. With CU in the double-bonus, Bluejay guard Maurice Watson Jr. made 6-of-6 free throws in the final 80 seconds to help CU stay even, and Creighton got a defensive stop in the final 10 seconds to preserve the first half tie.

The teams reset the score and fouls at 10-minute halftime break.

A trio of three-pointers by Marcus Foster helped the Bluejays jump out to an 11-3 lead in the second half, and Creighton would not trail. Ten different CU players scored in the final 20 minutes as all 14 eligible Bluejays played

Now there are NO secrets about the "secret" scrimmages
First the dates get announced and now they publicize the scores
This is really absurd!!
Why not call them "pre-season" games, sell tickets and let us see them!!

Syracuse will face UConn and Villanova will play Gonzaga in the 2017 Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, per multiple sources.

Does not really impact the BE race.

Georgetown's Bradley Hayes will miss the first four games of the 2016-17 season under terms of an NCAA waiver, per the school.

Seems like they are doing this because he was granted a fifth year, but the four game penalty sounds stupid, and JT3 does not seem happy about it.

Hayes is a redshirt senior who received a fifth season after the school applied for a waiver based on his freshman year, when the 7-footer played only a handful of minutes and also dealt with the death of his father.

“I don’t know if I would call it an agreement, but that’s what the NCAA told us,” Thompson said following men’s basketball media day at the newly opened John R. Thompson Jr. Intercollegiate Athletic Center.

Marquette's Haanif Cheatham is one of best sophomores that no one is talking about. Started 33 games as a freshman. Averaged 11.8 PPG.

If any of our new guys do that, I would be quite happy. Cheatham did get prime minutes though.

I agree with Arnold (Rothstein). Was high on this kid last year.

Think Edmond Sumner & Trevon Bluiett are important to Xavier? 49 (17-for-31) points & 9 assists in X's close win over Lehigh.

UConn lost....

Boston College lost....

"The ACC is the best and deepest league this year, but watch out for the Big East. This will be a great year for Big East strength, balance."
